  • Apparenly I have been buying good ones (I had no clue). I learnt that spending $1.75 more for a bottle (over the IP) was a better option for me since the smell of the IP Omega's made me nauseous. My Coach at the time told me to place the pills in the freezer so they wouldn't smell (I wasn't impressed with that answer) and immediately quit buying the IP omega’s. It worked for me, plus my omega’s now don’t smell like fish!!

Just for reference for those of you out there, my local health food store carries 3 of the approved brands each with the IFOS Stamp from the link that Lisa shared above.

So now let us talk Multi Vitamin. All multi’s have and array of different items. Is there a specific item I Should or Should Not be looking for? I have gone though many multi’s, it was a trial and error.
  • Yes, the fish oil that the clinics switched to in february smell and taste awful, i remembered reading lisa's advice awhile back and told them that was not a good sign. I did finish out the bottle, but then bought my own. Interesting to see everyone had that experience!
  • and when i told my coach about the rancid thing she told me "oh thats not good, just buy your own after this then, i don't like these ones either!' I appreciated that she didnt try to spin it. but its troubling they are continuing to sell these. Also, troubling how dark they are, makes me wonder....

You could probably drive yourself crazy trying to match IPs multi exactly. I just went for Centrum Silver
  • My Trial and errors with Muti's were because I would be sick to my stomach within 5 min of taking my muilt (with and without food). I found a generaic brand that I am happy with, I was just curious if there was something found with research that we should or shouldn't be looking for.
I will stick with what is working.
    Thank you for the imput
  • I take Nordic Natural omega 3's. Not fishy and ultra purified... I've been very impressed with the quality.
  • I agree with everyone...when IP changed their formula the new ones smelled terrible!

Another way to tell if the Omega you're buying is a good one is freezing 1 capsule overnight. If it stays liquid and is "squish-able" in the morning, it's a safe bet that it's good quality.

Mine are pretty hard to start with. I think it is the gelcap they're in. Its pretty firm.
  • Good to know all this, I had no idea about the Omega 3-6-9 which is what I got, I will look for an Omega 3.

Anyone use Vitacost? I bought some WF products and got a great deal was wondering about vitamins.

I get great deals in multi, potassium, mag cit and my enzymes there
I don't get my omegas there

Good point. I should have added the fact that it will only work with ones that are already squishy to begin with.
  • Quote: Omega 3s should NOT be fishy smelling and DEFINITELY NOT smell like rotten fish. I would return those at once!

I found my fish oils by researching international fish oil standards program. There were only a handful that met the quality standards I was looking for.

I order mine online and get a discount for buying multiple bottles at once.

Do some reading about rancid fish oil supplements and you will quit taking any of the cheap ones. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for (and other times, you get charged too much for something of cheap quality).

I had told my coach from day-1 that my omega 3s were non-negotiable, unless theirs had passed the same quality standards testing.
Could you tell me what kind of alternative you use for this? I can't find one anywhere that measures up. I am using alternatives for every other vitamin but this one. Thanks!
  • This is all really interesting! I am almost done with my bottle of IP Omega, and really think I'm going to purchase my own from now on. Thanks for all the great info everyone!
  • I have now been using alternative vitamins for 3 weeks without any problems. I purchased the brands that Walmart carries. Doing great!
  • Thanks for the great vitamin advice!!!
