Quick Portion Question

  • I am beginning the Insanity program soon, and I was reading through the meal plan and for a 400 calorie oatmeal breakfast, it says to have 1 cup of oatmeal. Does this mean I cook one cup of oatmeal and have all of it, or do I cook the oatmeal and measure out one cup? I'm just a little confused.
  • Cook, then measure.
  • Thank-you!
  • There is no way that one cup of cooked oatmeal is 400 cals.

It has to be one cup of uncooked oatmeal.

I agree. My old fashioned oats is 150 calories per 1/2 cup uncooked so that would be around 300 for 1 cup uncooked. Unless the Insanity oatmeal breakfast uses milk, sugar, fruits, etc. to bump it up to 400?
  • Oh yes, it does! It has almond milk, nuts, raspberries and protein powder. I just wanted to make sure that I measured out the oatmeal correctly.
