Labor Day Challenge - Striving Towards a Thinner, Fitter Fall

  • Ok, even though it makes me feel like summer is going to be over too quickly, I decided to start the Labor Day Challenge.

    Here are my personal goals:
    Start: 238.0 (Tues AM weight @ home)
    Ending Goal: 230.0 total loss of 8 lbs and 48 total miles of exercise

    If I count from today to 9/2 which is the Tues after Labor Day I have eight weeks, to meet my goals.

    To achieve these goals I will:
    DRINK MY WATER
    EXERCISE 3 TIMES PER WEEK
    JOURNAL MY FOOD INTAKE

    Goal weight for Labor Day - 149

    Areas I need to work on:

    1. Drink more water
    2. STOP eating when already full (very bad habit )
    3. Stay out of DD's popcorn at the movies

    OK so I have been having a bit of trouble getting back into things. A friend convinced me to try Atkins - I don't know how sound a nutritional approach it is, but so far I am losing.

    I don't have real weight goals, but I will set behavior goals and see how it goes as far as weight

    1. From 7/5 to 8/9 - Induction (<20 carbs per day, no "illegal")
    2. From 8/9/03 to 8/30/03 - OWL Level 1 (<25 g carbs per day)
    3. Whole time - 64-128 oz h20 per day plus exercise
    4. Track all at fitday.com

    So, that gives me 8 weeks from the start of Atkins (7/5/03) to the saturday before LD (8/30/03)

    Will post weekly update and weight!

    Week 1: Did great on the carbs, so-so on the water and pathetic on the exercise.
  • Bailey - I also do low carb but not Atkins, I am on Protein Power. Very much like Atkins but I eat higher protein and lower fat and it seems to work better for me

    I am down 1.5 pounds at 154 It occured to me that I am only 14 pounds from my goal of 130. It has always seemed so far away.

    Wow, looks like a lot of people are getting off to a good start I am impressed .

    Rabbit - 3 Lbs and while on vacation even

    Ellie - 1.5 Lbs and 24 or 14 lbs away from goal either way you'll make it!

    Baily - Am I reading your post right you lost 7 lbs ? I could never do a low carb diet. I am a giant carbo junkie . I'm with you on the low exercise just can't seem to get my big butt moving.

    Well and now for my weekly update:

    Start: 238.0 (Tues AM weight @ home)
    Week #1 (7/15): 237.5 down 0.5 (considering my week I'll take it), only 1 mile of exercise
    Ending Goal: 230.0 total loss of 8 lbs and 48 total miles of exercise

    Let's hope this week goes better although it's that week of the month where I'm always hungry and eat most anything not nailed down. Those darn horomones

    Tech - congrats on the loss! ~ and I didn't lose the 3 lbs on vacation. I lost 3 lbs during the week after vacation (I'm losing the vacation gain).

    Week 2: Ditto above. Got to get on the exercise. Ok with only 1 lb as last week was big and this is TOM

    Tech - I know - I love carbs. But this really hasn't been so bad. The biggest problem is getting myself to actually eat (atkins suppresses your appetite)! Lets get moving this week!
