  • Umm I came to this site in 2011 at 296.4 or was it 294.6!?! Verging on 300 anyways. Desperate to one day get smaller but having little faith in it ever happening. When I was bored, lonely or anxious I ate than I realized that certain types of stress helped me lose weight soooo there IS a silver lining to being stressed out, for me anyways

I just broke into the twenty teens and I am so happy. I have been muscle training for a few months now. I know I could put more effort into it but I am happy with the results so far

On the left is me in the 290's :'( on the right that's where I am at now (216 lbs) I have been working hard on my posture and my back it straightening out love it

    Left size:24/4xl (44h)
Right size:15/L or XL (37i)if the boobs don't fit but I ain't complaining
  • Wow! You look SOOO amazing! I would have guessed you had lost even more from your appearance in the "after" pic. Svelte! So happy for you and your success. Keep going! This is the best support site on the net.
  • Wow. There is no way you look 216lbs at 5'5". You look great! Congratulations!
  • Oh man, I wish more people knew the awesome encouragement you can find from quality folks all over the world on here. You all rock

I have built up a good amount of muscle so far when I started muscle training at the beginning of summer 2013 I gained five pounds and dropped almost two sizes. It's hard not to get hung up on the number on my scale but I can see and feel a difference in my body and folks around me are noticing it to.

lol and to think this all started with an Instagram squat challenge
  • The muscle is definitely working for you. I would never in a million years guessed you weighed over 200 pounds. You look absolutely fantastic.

If you don't mind me asking, what's your workout routine? I assume it's evolved from the squat challenge!
  • You look fantastic!!!
I would also love to hear about your workout routine and how you started off. I'm hoping to start working out more, and would love any advice. I hope to have a fit fabulous body like yours!! I'm close to your current weight but am looking exactly like your before picture.
  • Yowza, you look MARVELOUS! Congratulations on all your hard work, you are rocking it!
  • Thought I would just go ahead with the face pic... the difference is pretty dramatic. But the angles are different a bit but still

For the last few days I have been telling myself to make notes of what machines an movments I am doing but all I remember was leg adductor lol

With all machine/free weights I do 10reps and 4sets. With a 48/60second pause/break between sets to get the blood to make its round. I do my max weight on the machines so I am fighting to get through the 8th rep to the tenth rep. I count out 3seconds for every rep. I want the best results to screw around and not give %100 I am only cheating myself so when I half *** or go to fast I ad a rep, and hold it at the top for an extra few second. I believe that's called #BeastMode lol jks

I start with leg press machines. They hit the biggest muscles and starting my work out I have the most energy. I hit three other "butt machines" after that Hip abductor inner thigh and outer thigh. As well the one where you kick the weight back. Then I do pulling exercises for my back. Row pull things same, Lap pull downs. That weird machine where you close your arms in front of you lol sorry everyone, I don't know the names. Free weight I use 25lbs different versions of pull ups that hit the back arms and shoulders. Then I hit the treadmill for thirty but I think I am going to cut that part out again, I'd rather power walk with my dog. And now that I am at a coed gym... there will always be movement with a well endowed women, and I do not care for the attention from it.

I see people with workout buddies and sometimes I wish i had a plus size workout partner into muscle training as well... if your friends aren't into it or do it lol they only care about it so much lol

@levoguette lol I am sure you are looking fantastic! Muscle training is definitely worth the effort it reshapes the body straightens out the posture which makes you look smaller and the strength you get is pretty cool springing up stairs like nothing not getting winded. Before carrying my dog a few blocks in the snow was hard on the arms (she is 25lbs) but now I tuck her under one arm and she doesn't flinch at all cause she can tell I am not starting to drop her.

I am still **** bent on hitting the illusive size twelve I never though possible. I do want to also break out of the 200's into sweet sweet one-derland. But if hoovering at 200/190s still gets me to a size 12 with the muscle mass, DONE! I will take it lol
I had a friend same weight different body shape and she lost 80lbs but did not muscle training and the effects of that can not be undone and it really made me want to build muscle to fill in the deflated spots. I may not have control over some oft the effects of a dramatic weight loss but there is a bit that we do have control over.

Thanks again everyone for the kind words
  • Congrats!!!!
  • Looking good girl
  • Gorgeous, I'd kill for those eyes!
  • Great job!! keep up the great work!!
I know how it is.. When I am about 180 people are telling me you don't need to lose anymore weight.. I have a large muscle mass so I look thinner..
but still the weight is there.. Anyways!!
    Keep up the GREAT job!
  • Congrats on your accomplishments! Keep it up!
  • Wonderful wonderful inspiration. I definitely will be adding weights to my work out now. Thank u for confirming this. You look beautiful btw! Congratulations!
  • Woooh! You look so awesome, I need to get on the weight training. I get so intimidated.

Thanks for sharing, I totally understand what you mean about the sizing and boos. I'm a 38HH...and they don't like to squeeze into anything smaller than a XL. :P
