  • Good morning ladies! Saturdays are always wonderful for me. Even if it is busy, it is usually busy-ness I chose to do rather than my boss chooses for me.

Looks like we may have a little sun this morning before the rain moves in and then that is supposed to last for several days. I guess I knew the sunny weather had to end....

Not sure what all is on the agenda today besides the normal routine: laundry, groceries, cleaning, etc. But all those chores go more quickly now that both boys are away at school. I miss my kids but empty-nesting has its advantages.

Coffee is ready. Pull up a chair and have a cup!
  • Good morning Beth! Thanks for starting us off this beautiful morning. I hope your routine stays normal today!

I have to work shortly, and then who-knows-what. I do need to make sure to prep food for next week. I guess I need to look at the weather and see if I'm cooking today or tomorrow, and which is the best day to play!
  • Good morning Around here Friday is usually our one day to play and my weekends are chore, cooking, and catch-up time. Yesterday we went on a nice, and strenuous, hike then a Farmer's Market splurge ( I will not mention the food porn involved) and home for bean soup and roasted butternut squash. Unfortunate post hike tick finds this morning, but other than that a good day. Today there is laundry, cooking, cleaning, and shopping to do. I've also got a fair amount of backlogged work on my list. I hate doing it on the weekend but it needs to be done.

I bet Cottage is having a great time this morning

Ruth - how are you doing?

Natasha - if you are reading I'm thinking about you! Hope the settling in is going well.

Okay, time to get to it
  • Cyndi - I thought you were at the mod meet up?
  • Sheesh! Nearly 9:30 and I'm still in my robe and only on my second coffee. Another bad night despite the Tylenol. I think it's the cooler and damp weather that's bugging the ribs and back. Skipped Book Club last night because of feeling "poorly".

Not sure what's on the agenda today - aside from getting dressed. I really should clear some of the paper mess on my desk and do a financial report for Monday's quilting biddies' meeting. On the other hand, the dogs look so relaxed, each sleeping on a chair, that I may just hop back into bed with a book. This convalescing thing has its advantages!

    Happy Saturday, whatever you do.

Just too much work to do to get away this weekend. I can't complain, part of the "problem" is that we have a get away planned Wed. - Sat., so lots and lots of work to do before leaving town. Sad to miss another opportunity to see Cottage. Guess I'll just have to get to Hawk Mtn soon!
  • Good afternoon,

Got sad news last night my neighbor passed away. He had been battling recurring cancer for quite a few years now. My two oldest grew up with his two boys.

It is a rainy day here, we went to DS homecoming parade this morning, but I passed on football game. Hoping it clears up soon so we can go pumpkin picking this afternoon.

I am ignoring chores today I will tackle them tomorrow.
  • Pearlrose so sorry for your loss.

Had fun at the retirement party. Forgot to set my alarm so my day started a little later than planned. Helped Joe tackle a few chores today....ok I tackled then while he dug up the cesspool lid and unclogged the drain...needless to say he was in a GREAT mood this morning lol...day ended well I fed baby cows apples. One was quite affectionate, or maybe mistakenly thought my hand would taste yummy.

Won't be here until later tomorrow. Going on a bike ride with some of the guys for work. One recently completed the Louisville Ironman with professional athlete status....oh we are doomed!!!
  • GOOD MORNING Y'ALL!! I hate it when I wake up earlier on a weekend than a weekday.

Pearl, I am so sorry to hear about your neighbor. Hugs to you.

Jennifer, oh. my. I'm not sure I could ride with him!

I'm sitting here in the lovely quiet. It's a beautiful (muggy) foggy morning out and everyone else is still asleep. We have lots of church stuff going on (LOL...parenting class....), but the afternoon is free. I *know* I have lots to do, but will I do it?!

I did get a batch of my sausage and lentil soup made last night for the week, so hopefully I'll stick with good eating .
  • Well, we were supposed to have sunrise at 7:07 this a.m. but it's pretty gloomy and dark out there. We are in for a dark and rainy day.

Found a smoked turkey leg in the freezer yesterday and made the meat and stock part of what I think will be a lentil and veggie soup. I also have a basket of yellow tomatoes which need to be dealt with before the darned fruit flies ruin them. Had two bad days with the back and ribs but today seems a bit better. Enough already!

Today is the day Donna comes back from PA and picks up wee Lulu. It's been fun having three dogs but it'll be nice to get back to just my nuclear pack. I am always amazed at how well dogs get along. Moel came to visit yesterday and brought along Milo the crazy Jack Russell. It was pretty crazy here for a while but they were all happy.

Have a good day whatever you do.
  • Do you know where in PA Donna was, Ruth? Just curious since it's my neck of the woods .
  • She was in the Poconos, Twynn. Just heard from her and they are hoping to hit the road before noon. It's about a 5 hour drive allowing for the line-up at the 1000 Islands Bridge.
  • Good morning It's the usual Sunday morning wake-up time around here. It's a cold, rainy day here, perfect for cooking a turkey. They had them on sale at the Co-op and I couldn't resist. I'll make a big dinner today then we will bring the leftovers on vacation. It's nice to have some food to eat in rather than going out for every meal. Around the turkey dinner I need to can more tomatoes and get apples drying. I saw someone on the internet who dries apples in horizontal slices with the star in the middle. They look nice but I wonder about eating them. I guess you must leave the middle?

Tammy - is that lentil soup recipe in our recipes? I'm always looking for new recipes for lentils

Ruth - Hope today is a better day

Time to get breakfast and quit staring at this screen
  • Good morning. Yesterday I worked. Today DH and I will hike if the trails are open. Not sure what time we'll go since we have a cold snap this weekend and wimpy me may not be up to a morning hike wearing layers yet. I got some stretching videos from the library and tried my first yesterday. My lower body is so stiff when I move, particularly when I get up after sitting or lying down. From my internet research this could actually be one more side effect of menopause. I haven't done yoga since I hurt my foot in May so the tightness beyond my normal inflexibility could be part of it too. It is so hard to motivate myself to just stretch on my own. Eating has been OP and the darn scale won't cooperate and I'm blaming that on menopause too!! I'm really regretting all those days off plan with social eating over the summer when I thought I could just hop back on the beach and be fine.

    Enjoy your day.
  • Good morning, the ride was cancelled due to rain. Which might be a good thing because apparently I cannot tell time. Unlike yesterday I did set the alarm, but for PM not AM. I better get my act together since I go back to work tomorrow.

So now I have absolutely nothing planned and that is just fine with me.

Linda I blame everything in my hormones, forgetfulness, stubborn scale, strang eating choices at times, commercials that make me cry. According to my dr the symptoms can start 7 years before entering into menopause. Hopefully your end is near. Good luck with the stretching.

All this talk of turkey reminds me I have a breast in the freezer. Maybe I'll defrost it soon. it does take up a lot of room.
