NSV! I did it!!

  • So, I decided to see if go 30 days with no sweets, I have a huge sweet tooth...or rather I had a huge sweet tooth. I made it through the 30 days with no sweets! The day after I finished the challenge, I went to a wedding. The bride's mom had made homemade pralines. I had a bite and flinched from the sugar. It's been about another 8 days since I finished, and I am still staying away from the sugar. I am very happy about this. I am hoping this lack of sweets continues.
  • That is fantastic! What you did is not easy and I really admire you for doing it!

    Congrats!
  • KYgirlinSC!! Way to go- and you should be proud! It's no small feat what you've done so far.

  • Congrats! It's liberating isn't it. Yes we can survive without sugar!
  • Congratulations! I have a sweet tooth, too, so I'm super-impressed!
  • Congratuations!
  • way to go!
  • Wow! As a sugar fiend, I must say that I am impressed and inspired! Thank for sharing, this is major!!!!
  • YAY!!!! I have always lived on sweets. All day, everyday. I am just starting out, so this is very encouraging!
  • Congratulations, that is a major accomplishment! It is amazing how your taste buds change isn't it?!?

  • Good for you!!!!
  • I've been doing the same thing. I found, personally, sweet was fairly easy. But I ate A LOT of potatoes, mashed, baked, fries, and potato chips. I also eat bread and pasta quite a bit.

But I haven't had a candy bar in 6 months or bought bread or pasta or actually potatoes except for sweet potatoes in a few recipes. I have had some sandwiches out and about and a the stray fries.

Lowering sweets/carbs is an awesome way to go in my opinion. I am convinced for me it was straight to belly fat and keeping me in a state of constant hunger. And it is totally absolutely doable. If you told me I would go 6 months without buying potato chips I'd say you were crazy. But I did it.

And I was a carbaholic. Anyone can do it. Get by the first few weeks and it is worth it and can be done.

My one advice is concentrate on CARBS not just sweets
    .

I was on the whole grain stuff is good for you, bread, and pasta, etc. Once it is inside of you it is all carbs. I think of bread and pasta and potatoes as cotton candy now, even whole wheat products.

Some debate that whole wheat gets processed differently. But we had switched over to whole wheat years ago and I still had massive carb belly. It wasn't until I cut it down drastically that the belly went down dramatically. My body once carbs got in from sweets or whole wheat pasta they stimulated insulin and mostly got stored not used. So just a reminder to be careful not to sub carbs for sweets. Although I still do eat veggies and fruits, I am NOT nor will be on Atkins.
  • Wow! Keep up the good work!!
