  • Hello lads and ladies,

I get a strong sweet craving daily after (healthy) lunch. I drink green tea at the end of the meal, and then I start almost obssessing with chocolate or cake or pie for the rest of the afternoon.

Do you have that as well? how do you deal with it?
  • I do!! And apart form having a mental breakdwon and eating a whole chocolate bar like yesterday (see my other thread here!) I manage just fine doing this:

I drink a big glass of water, I make coffee, take one little piece of a high quality chocolate, leave the kitchen, and enjoy my coffee and my little chocolate treat. The water keeps me hydrated and makes me feel physically more "full", coffee and chocolate taste amazing and it's just enough to get rid of the craving.
  • I supplement with chromium and l-glutamine for a few weeks.
  • I'm with Ronja I love to eat dark chocolate dove promises for my sweet tooth-I try to keep it under 1 serving per day. A little bit of chocolate goes a long way!!
  • I don't fight it. I don't go for a big piece of cake but I do eat something sweet like a granola bar, yogurt or piece of fruit. I make it fit into my calorie budget (or point budget since I'm doing WW) for the day.

Same here! I know that if I save 4 points I can have a huge delicious skinny cow mint chocolate ice cream sandwich and not feel guilty
  • I don't usually have those cravings, but I typically have a coffee at that time flavored with Torani sugar free chocolate syrup. It is a nice treat.
  • Quote: I try to eat fruit, but occassionally I take a spoonful of all natural honey peanut butter and put it on a graham cracker. It it gets rid of a sweet craving and I don't feel terrible about it afterwards.
I've done that before... with just the spoonful (small) of peanut butter.
  • I get my sweet craving early in the morning, but usually only every once in a while. I usually just eat a 90 calorie Fiber One Brownie or an 80 Calorie Archer Farms Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Indulgent Granola Bar (from Target). No point in fighting it. If I do, I'll just eat something worse later on.
  • I find that if I eat enough at breakfast and lunch, and have a small mid-morning snack (like a small apple with a handful of sunflower seeds), and if I eat more protein and fewer carbs, then I don't get that 3 pm super hungry sweet-craving like I used to.

However, if I do feel like something sweet, I'll make hot cocoa with organic skim milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, and 1-2 tsp of sugar. That does the trick.

  • Either 1 square of organic chocolate

    or 1 chocolate hard candy.

you would be surprised how much the chocolate hard candy works!
  • Yes, if my healthy meal includes starches/grains. If not, I tend to not have an issue.

One treat that tends to satisfy me, though, is starbucks coffee with sugar free mocha and heavy whipping cream. Super yummy!
  • I have a handful of nuts that I have added diced dried pineapple and papaya to. The nuts satisfy my desire to chomp and the dried fruit hits the sweet tooth.

That and/or herbal or green tea.
  • Hey everyone! Thanks for all the tips!
I brushed my teeth after lunch and the craving was gone!. I was able to wait until 4 to have grapefruit.
