Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Hummus OMG

  • I stumbled across this recipe for Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Hummus and I was intrigued. I had all the ingredients on hand so I decided to whip up a batch to include in my packed lunches this week.

OMG! I taste tested it and it was all I could do to not sit down with a spoon and eat the whole bowlful.

All it is is garbanzo beans, peanut butter, a teensy bit of maple syrup, and vanilla extract. It has HALF the calories of peanut butter (only 93 for 2 tablespoons as compared to about 200 in pb) and it smells and tastes just like cookie dough. No beany-ness at all.

    Try it. I dare ya.
  • That sounds sooooooooo good!!
  • OH YUM. What did you eat it with? Straight up, maybe? :-)

I plan to use it as a dip for apples and celery. Or just eat it with a spoon. You could probably use it on just about anything you'd put peanut butter on (which, in my case, is everything).
  • I made something like this once, so yummy!!!! Good with graham crackers and wafer cookies as well as fruit. My beany dessert projects which I will try very SOON - cinnamon sugar blondies and chocolate chip cookie dough truffles!
  • All of these sound amazing! I can't wait to try them!
  • Very interesting. I wonder if it would be nearly as good if the peanut butter was substituted for PB2 and the maple syrup was substituted for WF Pancake Syrup. (But then again, there is so little syrup in the recipe, it might not be necessary to substitute).

Maybe make a small batch to test it?
  • I just made this. I probably wouldn't make it again, but its okay. I ate it with some pretzels.

I made mine with splenda and light syrup.

Bummer. I wonder if the substitutions made a difference? Even though the maple syrup is a tiny amount, I think it adds a significant depth of flavor.

Its possible. We don't even have regular syrup in the house because my mom is diabetic and can't have it. It just tastes like peanut butter dip to me.

Ah yea, I know what you mean. It's kinda the same for me with the greek yogurt recipe where you add PB, honey or maple syrup and chocolate chips- tastes like PB dip to me rather than cookie dough. Perhaps try nutella or almond butter (or half and half) instead of peanut butter for less of a peanutty taste.
