I feel a little silly, but do I need to make up a whole new user name and password just for my blog? I assumed since it was for/linked to this site, that I would just use the user name and password that I have.

It's not a silly question The forum and the blogs don't share the same database, so if someone wants both then they need to sign up for both. Most of our forum members don't use the blogs, so it's just an added option.
