Induction-friendly snacks that don't require refrigeration?

  • Is there such a thing? I can't think of anything. Maybe because I'm so hungry I can't think. Well, except Atkins bars, but those are a trigger for me, not to mention expensive. I just got a new job and I work 10-4 every day with no break. I can eat while I'm working, but snack type stuff, not a meal. The past 2 days I've ended up staying until about 5, and by the time I leave I am really hungry, to the point of light-headedness and extreme crankiness. I don't know what to do. I'll probably just bring a snickers bar and say eff it all.
  • Hello there.... I am sorry that you do not have access to a refrigerator... But you can bring hard boiled eggs, drink Hot tea, some jerky (be careful), nuts (don't overdo) and almonds are the best. Do you have access to a small therma lined lunch bag? If so you can bring meat, cheese, veggies etc with a ice pac to keep it cool. Just an idea..
  • Thanks, those are some good ideas. I should get a lunch bag. I was also just thinking, maybe I could bake up some cheese crisps. Does anyone know if those would be ok overnight, or might they get soggy? I guess it would still be better than no food. Also, I need to start making my own jerky.
  • I've brought celery and carrot sticks, olives, hard salamis (read the label for hidden carbs), and of course nuts. They last fine for several hours without refrigeration, at room temperature, though not in the hot sun. Cheese sticks and hard boiled eggs, too.
  • i work 10 hours a day and just bring an insulated bag and at this time of year it keeps everything cool of course i'm in michigan. if your someplace cold like me you can leave bottles of water in car and halfway through day switch out the bottles of ice and you can keep food cool all day
