What is the lowest carb, lowest calorie whey protein powder?

  • It gets mind boggling trying to sift through them all.

I have muscle milk. I've only used it as a protein drink. one scoop is 150 calories and 16 grams of protein. But they also add fats in the mix which is where some of the calories come from, obviously. But it is lower carb than most. It has 7 net carbs. Here's the nutritional info: http://www.cytosport.com/products/mu...le-milk-powder

I am wanting to use whey protein to add to baked goods for low carb snacks, but what's good? What's low carb and high protein and lower calorie! Tall order, huh? :-)
  • OK, just found the coolest site for narrowing down nutritional supplements. Now of course, the next question is, "How do these things TASTE!?"

I just plugged in a search for protein bars/powders, set my carb limit, my protein limit and my calorie limit and up popped a bunch. COOL!!!!
  • I'm answering myself here, but I've heard good things about this:

Jay Robb but it is VERY pricey:http://www6.netrition.com/jay_robb_whey_protein.html

Isopure also has good reviews (more of them too) and it's quite a bit cheaper:

And for cheap (but soy proteins) is this:

  • Nature's Plus, Energy Shake, The Original High Protein -
This is the best, as far as I'm concerned. I've used it for years. I use water and powder in a blender, and DaVinci Syrup, & ice...but you can use milk, juice, whatever. I order mine online from iherb. Tastes good. Scroll down their page to check out the ingredients. The price shows up less once you add it to the cart.

  • I like Dymatize Whey Gourmet and Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard. I think they have similar calorie counts and about 24 grams a protein a serving (and 1 gram of protein is 4 calories). And these taste good. I also use Dymatize's Elite 7 blend but it doesn't taste as good as the others and I wouldn't buy it for the taste alone ;p
  • I use NNW 100% Whey. Most flavors are around 100 calories for 1oz of powder and there is only 1 carb! They are sweetened with stevia and they taste amazing. My favorite is the caramel vanilla swirl, but I also really like the strawberry, and chocolate peanut butter is pretty good too. If anything they taste too good...

Love this stuff! It was my daily breakfast for over 10 years before I started Medifast. I used to usually do milk, instant coffee, and a spoonful of Splenda. After I got a Vitamix, I did milk, frozen blueberries and spinach a lot. It has a very mild vanilla flavor and no added sweetener , so you flavor and sweeten it up however you want.

Oops, just saw you were looking for whey powder. Energy is soy, rice and pea protein.
  • I use Kaizen Whey protein isolate and really like it:

I use in a smoothie in the morning and keeps me full all morning.
