What ones did you get? The ones made with Tofu or the ones without ? The ones made from tofu have calories where as the ones made strictly from yams do not. The smell of them at first is a little strange. But if you rinse them off under the tap, and boil them for a few minutes, they act like tofu-- taste changes to what you're cooking them with. Personally I've made a chicken salad using the noodles, chicken pieces, feta cheese, cucumbers, celery, onions and some spices. Along with a light, low fat dressing. They honestly take on the flavour of what you're cooking with.
Some people obviously have different taste buds. But the fact that a serving of elbow pasta is around 200 calories give or take, this is well worth it. GIVEN, that it's cooked properly.
But again everybodys taste buds are different. I'd rather eat "real" pasta too, but its a small sacrifice.
