  • Good cold morning to you!

Woke up to no heat, which is not good because my boiler controls my hot water too. Thankfully I have the fireplace.

What is on everyone's agenda today, besides getting back OP? lol
  • Brrr here too, Jennifer. We are at 3ºF but I do have heat. I hope your problem gets resolved fast.

Lovely and fun dinner with my friends last night. I was just fine with all the food until Claire asked me to try her new caramel/cranberry/chocolate squares. They are right up there with Cranberry Crack. (Yes I did get the recipe - more for my food porn collection!) I was home just after 8:30, watched TV and cuddled the dogs before passing out in my bed.

This morning I am off to Ottawa to see that part of the family. Jim has to work but Wendy, Tayler and I will go for lunch at his restaurant. We're hoping it's not too busy so Jim can join us. (He manages a popular restaurant in the downtown area and it may be busy with Boxing Day shoppers.) We have sunshine and no snow predicted so it should be an easy drive and I intend to be home before dark. Claire is coming over to let out the doggage for a noon hour potty break.

Happy second Day of Christmas. I hope the two turtle doves show up and get along with that partridge who is guarding the pears.
  • Ok I now know what everyone else is doing.....sleeping in lol

On my second cup of coffee, thinking I have a pretty good life. Spent a few days with my son, helped out a friend so he could spend Christmas morning with his family and had a really relaxing sweet Christmas night with my friend Joe.

I should be working out, but holding off as I have no hot water for a shower. Woke up to a very cold house. Apparently my boiler has decided it is taking a vacation! Really boiler you could not take your vacation in the summer??? My boiler is pretty old, but efficient. Every year it needs a little something to get through the winter. I had it serviced the last week of October and since then it has been making a strange smell. My neighbor commented on the odor yesterday. So I called to set up an appointment for today. They offered a technician to come out yesterday, but I declined as it was Christmas. When I Git up this morning I put the heat up for Joe to get ready for work and thought funny I don't hear anything. When I looked at my thermostat it was a brisk 57 degrees. Thankfully the propane fireplace helps. The boiler guy should be here between 7 & 9.

Nothing planned for today which is just fine by me.
  • Good morning, Jennifer. I hope you can get your heating problem sorted out, pronto! It's cold out there!

We had a very nice white Christmas with a light coating of snow, although it all vanished by noon. I stayed pretty much OP yesterday, but I can't say the same for Christmas Eve, although I did eat in moderation. But for some reason I have tummy ache this AM.

Today's a work day for me, and since a snowstorm is on it's way I may end up spending the night. I absolutely refuse to drive on snowy roads anymore, especially the hilly, winding back roads out at the farm. I'm so glad the girls are on school holiday and am looking forward to spending the next couple of days with them. I really miss them while they're in school all day!

Well, I have time for one more coffee then I'd better tuck some extra underthings in my overnight bag.

    Have a good day, everyone!
  • Linda Darling, I am so relieved that you are avoiding the drive in the snow. That drive scares me even without snow! Hug the girlie for me.
  • Phase 1 starts right now! Made the unfortunate mistake of stepping on the scale today. Not shocked as I did make an abundance of poor choices the past two weeks. Time to plan for the upcoming week. I got a new huge crock pot from my parents which I cannot wait to break in. Time to check the boards for some ideas.

Linda glad you have a safe place to stay rather than risk driving I think I will ask John to pick me up at home tomorrow rather than our usual meeting place.
  • Jennifer, remember Taco Bake. I made it for my Christmas Eve party and cut the leftovers into portions which I froze for Phase I meals later this week. I probably made many more poor choices than you did as I'm ten pounds heavier than last Christmas!
  • Yay, everyone else can get out the good food too! I dared to step on the scale as well, and it is slooowly creeping up since my all time low 4 years ago. Food like yesterday doesn't help (LINDA! How did you eat on plan, you're awesome!).

Jennifer , WHOA, bad time for the boiler to go out! Hope it is a quick fix this time.

Linda, enjoy your time with the girls, the weather looks like it will be yucky!

Ruth, I would say you must share the recipe, but I think I just said I need to eat better.

Ahhhh, it's the morning after . The party we had here for people who didn't have family around was great fun (although the one family makes it very LOUD). The kids really enjoyed their gifts, and life is good. I got a smoker!! (to smoke meats, silly) So now I need to research how to use it.

I took a "sick" day today to recuperate and spend time with the kids...so nothing planned! Maybe it will be a good time to plan a menu and clean the cr@p out of the cabinets. Good thing yesterday was a pot luck...all the bad food went back home!
  • Good Morning

Jennifer, I hope your boiler gets fixed very soon. I have one of those old ones, too, and I just keep my fingers crossed because it would be a very big production to replace it.

    Linda and Ruth...safe travels!

Work calls and it will be very busy since we've had snow and the skiiers will all be out.

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Good morning, Chicks.

I am also thinking that maybe a few days of PH1 are in order. I didn't go crazy but have definitely been eating some off plan stuff this week, with the abundance around. And we are going to a Boxing Day party tonight. So it would serve me well to NOT wait until tomorrow!

I work 4 of the next 5 days and anticipate lots of clothing being exchanged and returned. I'm off to work out with my mom and trainer today since she was out-of-town on Monday. Then have to get to Costco to pick up a prescription. I do like that their prices are lower but hate the hassle of the lines; the pharmacy always has a wait.

    Have a great day.
  • Good morning! (For me, this is early!) It's raining here, and coldish (but 35 can't compare to 3!) It's supposed to be a gray, rainy day all day, so a good day to cook! I had a pleasant Christmas -- dinner out with friends at a restaurant. I had ham, with endive and broccolini as sides. Not my worst Christmas dinner!

I hope everyone has a good day, snowy if you like it, not if you're driving!!!
  • Good morning,

I have a couple of minutes before we all head out to go to St. Louis to the City Museum which is a fun interactive place for the kids.

Eating was not too far of plan but way to much. Plan is moderation since I still have a houseful of guests until they leave tomorrow but then we are packing to leave on Saturday to go skiing.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, we had lots of laughter in the house and had a wonderful time

    Have a great day everyone
  • Hi all

Merry merry! I was disappointed in my XMas meal (we ate out but no special menu) of shrimp and 1/2c grits with veggies but my peanut butter cup dessert made me feel better!

Felt gross from my week of feeling sorry for myself so back on Ph 1 for me for a week. I sound like a broken record...

I am going to have a challenge re: grocery bills for the next month (only, I hope to find a job by then) but I know I can do it
  • Ruthie, I too am 10 lbs heavier than last year. Meh. (Tickie is LYING!) Not sure what made me step on the scale this morning...

Have the day off so I went to Sam's Club with my mom, bro, and little niece and picked up some things in bulk for when healthy eating starts Jan 2. Also ran and picked up some free olives and cereal (couponing at its finest) and am baking cookies with Chris' new Kitchenaid I got him for Christmas. We'll keep some for Chris and I'll take some to the girls at work... Stomach is not too happy today so I think it's time to cut out the crap. Too many sweets!!!!

Anyway, just popping in. Hope everyone's doing great! I'll be back more often after the 1st.

    Lisa

ETA: Pearlrose, the City Museum is one of Anna's favorites. I hope you have fun!
  • Hello It's been an exhausting two days but home now and prepping for the big storm. I'm off so don't mind being snowed in. There's all kinds of yummy foods and I have a gas stove so there could be more. I'll charge the kindle and make sure the extra blankets are nearby, fill the tub with flushing water and I'm ready for anything.

My ticker is in time-out but I plan to bring it back in all it's painful detail on 1/2. I got Zumba Core fitness for the Wii from my Mom. Definitely need to start working that along with better eating. At least the first few lbs should drop fast

Apparently the neglected furry creatures need my attention immediately
