Hi all,
DH is making some Olive Garden Zuppa Toscano. It smells SO good. Can't wait for it to be done. Will have with a slice of homemade bread.
It's quiet here. Sunny but cold. Going to be even colder tomorrow - only a HIGH of 9 degrees. Brrrrrrr. DH said it doesn't feel as cold as it did in the city. I say BAH. 9 degrees is 9 degrees and that's COLD. I do have to run out to the store but I have piddled around so much today that it's too late to go now. DH would wonder why I am going out since we have been shopping the last 2 days. But 2 stores start their sales on Sunday and there are some Sunday sale things I want to pick up. Also our local co-op store is supposed to give us a discount on groceries if we are also a propane gas customer (which we are). I told the new kid checker we were and he did not give me my discount on Friday. We bought $150 worth of groceries so it was a good discount (if we got it). The kid said it automatically took off the percent, I took the slip to customer service and she was equally confused. I was vindicated yesterday when we went there to check out their seafood sale and the checker properly handled my transaction and the extra discount clearly shows on the slip. Ordinarily I would not fuss over this however it's a matter of principle - one there is a HUGE red sign on each checker's cash register reminding them to ask people about the propane discount, the checker ignored it or is confused even after I reminded him of it and third - the customer service lady was also wrong about how this works Other than that, we will be staying in the house.
Laura - glad you had a nice time at the parties. Sounds like you have a busy weekend ahead - but full of fun.
Ceejay - funny you should mention it but I was thinking about the rope lights on the stairway. Just can't figure out a way to do it where DH won't complain that they are cheesy looking and take them down when I'm not home. Ouch on the shoulder. Maybe get a bag of frozen peas while you are out at the store and alternate between the peas (ice) and the heating pad. A bit of linament might help too but not in conjunction with the ice or heat.
Ellen - not sure if you will ever get back the time you lost when you couldn't drink but I hope you have a good time with DH and the band. Bringing your steak home and making 2 meals out of it is more economical to me - that is IF you remember to eat the leftovers We have a small warm air humidifier going in the house and that helps a bit but not quite enough to put as much moisture as we really need in here. We bought a big cool air humidifier last year but it's noisy and spits out more moisture around the furniture than we'd like and boiling pot of water on the stove always makes me nervous that I'd forget about it and let it boil out I guess the saline spray is probably your best option.
Mel - that is very pretty with the banister. Except mine has pine garland which I guess, sitting in the northwoods surrounded by pine trees is not totally Christmasy. But my banister looks like the one you posted. Maybe I can intertwine seasonal decorations - right now I have poinsettias on the drape of the garland That is SO funny about the nurse and enima bulb. I knew she was holding something and stupid me thought it was garlic - for the life of me I could not figure out what it was. I just googled "come here smilie" and that's the best that came up. Now that I know what it is, even funnier. I guess that would fit in good with the seniors Good guess with DH's lack of footprints as to walking on air - maybe he just does that around me Is Ritchie cooking again for New Year's Eve/Day?
Shad - hope you are enjoying your last few days off.
DH is making a banging mess downstairs. I guess I'd better go see what he's up to. Have a good rest of the weekend / long weekend for those of you who've got it.
