Glad you're feeling better now. There will be other line dancing classes...
I'm hanging in there. Feel like I've been too busy lately and after oversleeping this morning and almost missing an appointment, I just had to call it and let something go. Was supposed to go to symphony rehearsal tonight, but that got cut and I stayed in to practice for the gig tomorrow instead.

Food has not been the greatest at all. Lots of starchy refined carbs (ciabatta roll and bagels... ugh) but I'm trying to be aware of it instead of judging and beating myself up.

  • Alexis, thank you for the hugs. I guess I spoke too soon about feeling better. I've been in bed all day today. Am dizzy and coughing a lot. I'm not sure how I regressed. The good part is that I'm not eating a whole lot. Can't exercise, though.

Wow, you're in a symphony. What instrument do you play?

Gotta get back to bed now.

Let's keep at this. So glad we're working at achieving our goals together.
  • Absolutely, Tyla!!! We are in it to win it: to Easter and beyond!!! I've been slacking lately, but aim to tighten up the slack now.

Take care of yourself now. Drink tons of liquid, and rest as much as you can. (Sure you've heard it before, but it bears repeating...)

"Symphony" sounds so much more impressive than "orchestra" (which is really what it is...) but it is lovely to be playing with a giant group again. I play violin/viola (viola in the orch) I hadn't played for years and just recently started back up again. I want to keep the momentum going, though. I'm trying to learn a concerto just to have under my belt.

Feel like my week is all downhill from here. Have a women's group tomorrow evening, meeting up with a girlfriend on Friday, then yoga Saturday AM (with the distant possibility of a group in the AM instead, but not entirely sure...) then church on Sunday, then it's my "off" week, which is just super. As of now, the only thing I have scheduled is baby-sitting on Wed.

Aiming to take it easy the rest of the night. May try to put in another hour or so of practice, but we'll see where that takes us...

    Onward and upward!

  • I just wanted to touch base, only for a minue. Then it's back to bed. (I'm not ususally like this, but maybe it's time for me to slow things down a bit.)

I think it's so great, that you're taking up the viola again. I love music and the arts.

Not eating as much as I usually do, which is a good thing. Got to go.

    Talk to you soon.
  • Yuck, tyla... Being sick is so not fun... Although sometimes it does make you reassess priorities and put your health and well-being back up there near the top. Do you feel like you've been doing too much lately?

I'm coming down off a busy week and definitely feeling the need to take better care of myself (more sleep). Took it easy last night and that was very long overdue. Am also hoping for a restful weekend, so that's a plus. Feel like I could have reacted to the stress better, though. (mindless eating never helped anything).

Aiming to lock it down and kick it into high gear for the next three weeks! Easter is just around the corner!!!

  • 3 more weeks until Easter?! I wasn't aware it was so close! Better get my act together, too.

Yes, things have been a little hectic for me lately, so I've been pretty stressed. No wonder allergies turned into something bronchial and flu-like. I'm still kind of dizzy. But I feel better at times.

Sorry about yesterday not being a "thin day" for you. I know all about stress and overeating, but I'm really trying to stop that habit this time. I put on weight too easily when I do that. And I take forever to lose it. The fact that we're working at this together has helped me tremendously. Thanks for being here with me. Let's keep strong over the weekend.
  • That happens to me all the time (Allergies+Stress= Flu) No fun at all...
Glad you're back up and kicking, though.

I managed to reign myself in and had a spectacularly on plan next two days, which resulted in a total loss of 2lbs for my official weigh in this morning. I'm at 150.8 and in those three weeks, would love to be at or around 144... That's just two lbs per week.... Totally do-able IF I stick with it. Feel like this is going to be an uphill battle b.c of the lovely hormones, but if I can just keep my eye on the ball, there's no reason why we can't nail this...

    Happy Sunday!
  • Today was a gorgeous day! Not only was the sun shining, but my hubby and I went to the mountains, where it began to snow a little. It's not supposed to do that this time of the year. But it was beautiful!

Needless to say, I'm feeling so much better!! I've been doing well eating-wise, and this week I'll be getting back to my exercise!

Congrats on your weight loss!!!! Let's keep doing well.
  • I'm proud to say that I've been in range the whole 19 days of this month! That's huge for me!
  • Way to go, Tyla!!!! That's fantastic!!!!
(Wish I could say the same...)

I've kept on track with my own goals, but have not stayed within my recommended calorie range by a long shot. Ah, well...

  • I'm happy to say that I'm finally back to 139. I went up several lbs., but I'm finally able to start heading back downward again... even if its 2 ounces at a time. (I'm a slow loser.)

    We can do this!
  • lol - Yay for being back at ticker weight. I hear that loud and clear. I get antsy whenever I'm above the weight in my stats...

I'm a slow loser, too and it's more difficult being in a lower BMI category to begin with... Ah, well... they do say slow and steady wins the race. And teamwork, baby! We can DO it!!!

PS - Would love to know more about you! I'm 29, live in Northern NJ and work as an office manager for a chimney/fireplace contractractor (who is the father of my oldest friend). Am ardently looking for my next position, though (and he fully supports this). Possibly looking at the medical/healthcare field (possibly thinking public health or healthcare management...) Doing all the reading I can to get more information. (Currently Atul Gawande's The Checklist Manifesto -- it's fascinating!)

  • Staying within my range, but haven't exercised since I got sick. I still feel kind of blah, so I'm just taking things slowly. I feel like I'm losing ground when I don't exercise, however. So I can't wait to feel 100%!

About me, I live in the west, have started a business teaching wellness classes and am also thinking about going back to school. I would love to get my masters in counseling. I've got a lot of reseach to do!

Let's continue to stay strong. Easter is almost here!!
  • Ooooh, wellness classes. Cool!
And my mom just finished up her masters in counseling. (She works for a graduate school of couseling) Working on getting her licenture now. She's fantastic and really loves it, too.

Easter is less than 3 weeks away. (more like 2 weeks and a few days...)
I'm up a bit today from TOM nonsense, but trying not to let that derail me... Stay on target!!! (I tell myself)

  • Yesterday was my first day back to exercising. I'm easing into it. I did 15 minutes of Zumba and walked for a half hour. Can't wait to feel well enough to get back on the elliptical. These allergies really did a number on me this time!

Stay strong. I'll do the same. I was actually tempted yesterday, but I distracted myself until I got a handle on these. Today I'm happy about that.

    Let's do this thing!
