  • I grow asparagus. If you want your asparagus to last longer in the fridge, just cut off about 1/2" from the bottom of the bunch.

    Then stand the whole bunch in a little pan or cup of water in the fridge.
    They need water just like cut flowers do...otherwise they wilt.

    Asparagus tastes great raw when it is freshly picked...especially the thin spears. But I always cook mine.

    Spring is coming. If you have room on your property, consider planting a fruit tree. I got sticker shock when I visited the local produce store today.

    All the fruit was over $1.50 lb. A fruit tree (or a grape vine) will eventually give you 100-200 pounds of fruit a year.
    I cook my fruit, and strain it ...and freeze the juice. Juice has really risen in price too.
