  • I started my weight loss journey on May 20, 2010. Now it's ironic because I have been a faithful gym member since January 2006 - working out at least 4times per week. Because of my lack of portion control though, I ballooned up to 198lbs - an increase of 37lbs when I started the gym. I recently changed cities and continued with going to the gym faithfully.

I met a new trainer - he was very very good. His classes kicked asses. He also did personal training but I really could not afford his classes. He is quite an obnoxious person and very arrogant but I used to put my personal feelings aside and go to his free classes which the gym offered as part of my gym membership. But secretly it used to irritate me that he thought I could not lose the weight without training with him personally. He eventually left the gym and got another job.

Fastforward 7 months - to yesterday evening....I found out that he was doing aerobic classes again at a significantly reduced rate. So I called him and told him that I was coming. I am sure that he still expected the fat 198lbs girl he saw in May. I turned up and when he saw me his jaw fell open!!!! He could not belive his eyes! He even turned to another person and said "Look how little she is!" . Secretly I felt victorious because I proved to myself and to him, that I did not need him to lose the weight. After all, it's a personal journey - and I am glad that I went the route I did.

I am soooo on Cloud 9 now!!!!!!!!!!!
  • That is SOOOOOOOOOOOO great!!! Yeah for you! That is an awesome feeling when someone compliments you that way!

And even though you did it for yourself, how great is it you can show off in front of him and say "Hey, look at me! I CAN DO IT!"

    Great job!!!!
  • That's so awesome!
  • Oh, I love it!! What a victory!! I would have loved to see the look on his face.
  • Yay! Congratulations you have worked hard...enjoy the JOY!!
  • That is amazing!!! Seeing the scale go down is great, but when your figure is so physically different that people really notice that....amazing. I really look forward to simmlar meetings
  • Word.

You didn't **need** anyone but yourself to achieve what you have accomplished.

It's your thing. You own it. Totally.

    And doesn't that feel good?
  • That is awesome!
  • That's a brilliant story, it's so good when people like that see such a major difference isn't it.
  • Well done you. I bet that made you feel amazing
  • Congratulations !
  • This has to be a FANTASTIC feeling!! That is what I am hoping to do to MANY people in a few months!! :-) Congratulations!!
  • Congratulations!!!!

I have an evil step-uncle who is a body builder/personal trainer, and seriously tells me I will never lose the weight without him.

If he ever called me little, I would literally hit the floor and stay there for a while.

What an amazing accomplishment!! That certainly is cause for celebration!
  • Congrats! Those are the real life cues we need to let us know we are really doing it.

I have this thing, that when I get 'little' people (esp. men) tend to squeeze my shoulders. I have no idea why, but it probably has to do with the fact that I'm only 5 feet tall, and once I'm thinner, I look more like a china doll or something.

Anyway, with the years of yo-yo dieting, I have noticed that is a real trend, and I can always tell that I'm looking smaller when that becomes more common.

So, subconsciously I always tend to look for that as a cue.

It's funny the little things that mean so much to us, that no one else even would pick up on.
  • Awesome! You told him! It is nice to have a little outside verification sometimes.
