  • Quote: Good morning and WELCOME!! I think you both will do well w/ WS - if you work it! Don't get discouraged when you first try the WS food - I'm gonna shoot straight w/ ya...it does NOT taste like a Big Mac or Pizza or a yummy home made meal...BUT - here's the light at the end of that tunnel - if you tweak it a tad (by adding spices, FF sour cream, etc or sf flavored syrups/extracts) it's really good! I mean - it's diet food; we are just trying to retrain our bodies on the apprpriate portion size and training it to eat for fuel, not pleasure. I can tell you though - that I bought a BUNCH of Nutrisystem food for cheap on ebay a few years ago and that stuff was CRAP! Everything I tried tasted like cardboard - it was amazing how they can make chocolate cake and lasagna taste exactly the same! WS is WAY better! So good luck to you - and please come in and post often - questions, comments, recipes, just chit chat...I think I'm the only "original" WSmer here now; and oh how I miss my buddies!
Yeap, no Big Macs here. I love Kens Red Hot sauce so I pretty much doctor up a lot of these recipes. On the Diet Direct website people post reviews of the food and they have posted how they doctor it and make their own recipes. I posted my own on my blog, although I have been slacking lately because I was just eating it right out of the box. Mistake, then you get bored. LOL

For example, with the Cheesecake, once in a while I will had pumpkin spice, to make pumpkin cheesecake. Or once it has set I will add a small drizzle of Hershey sugar free strawberry or chocolate syrup.

On the chili I add a spoon of fat free sour cream and a sprinkle of fat free or 2% cheese (whatevers on sale) and some hot sauce. I had hot sauce to the cheese steak mac. The spicy mac I have been known to throw in some broccolli and do that with the Alfredo as well. Even a packet of tuna.

It really is a game of experimentation because what one person likes, another may not.

I add sugar free calorie free flavors to the pudding/shakes to get a bit more variety. If you have a Dollar General by you they have a couple flavors for $1 if you wanted a test run without spending a lot of money.

http://capellaflavordrops.com/ Capella has over 50 flavors and they have mini sizes for trial too.

http://www.minimus.biz/ sells trial sizes and mini sizes of food items, which are quite handy when eating out or traveling.
  • Quote: Irish- I saw you liked the smoothies...is there a trick to them? I ordered a box of each flavor, and, to be quite frank, they're the first thing I've ordered that literally made me gag. Maybe it's just a difference of taste, but are you doctoring them in some magical way to make them delicious? Just thought I'd ask.

Congratulations to everyone on their losses! I am a little disappointed- I have been on plan for a week and a half- no cheating and no deviating- but I have only lost 5 lbs. It doesn't seem like much for how restrictive my diet has been- and I know the first week's loss is supposed to be the fastest. That said, 5 lbs is still 5 lbs, and I am going to keep at it. I was just really hoping for a bit quicker loss at the beginning to stay motivated.

Is anyone else starving all the time? I was fine the first week- which is weird, because almost everything I've read has said that the first three days are the worst- but actually the last few days have been terrible. I'm so hungry, all I can think about is the next time I can eat!
I like the berry smoothies as is. I don't doctor those at all. To me it tastes just like berry yogurt smoothie. As for the mocha, chocolate, vanilla cream pudding/shakes, for those I don't make the shake option. I would rather use a spoon and eat. Works better for me. Can trick my mind. The mocha I do not use anything with. The chocolate I have added caramel sugar free syrup. I use 40z of water with a packet and use a shaker cup and shake the crap out of it. I guess I get a little arm workout in the process. There is no grit and its nice and creamy like pudding. For the vanilla I have added hazelnut sugar free syrup, another time I added pumpkin spice. I don't do too much doctoring of these. Mostly because I have yet to order any sugar free syrups from Capella.
  • Quote: Atty - Isn't Gatlinburg the BEST!!! We come here every year for Christmas, the weekend before...it's GREAT! Did you get any shopping in at the Outlets? We did a little bit today, but not as much as I usually do. I did get 2 pairs of Merrell's - I'm So excited about finally getting some good shoes for my painful feet! We don't do "outside" stuff like hiking, but always plan some sort of group outting, so tomorrow we are doing breakfast at the Black Bear Jamboree! It'll be FUN!

Irish - good thinking on stocking up! I've got quite a bit still left too. Thought it should get me thru the new year, but since I've been "cheating" I think I'll have enough to get me thru longer! I've not tried the alfredo - is it good?? I've not done the plain mac-chz either (only 3 servings in the box for the same $ as 7 pks of chz burger mac, I just can't make that work in my brain!). I don't mind the pasta meals - spicy and chz steak, but I mix it up by throwing a soup in a couple days a week...I also have LF ritz crackers w/ my soup - helps make me think I'm eating "real" food!

Well, gotta start getting ready for dinner...my b-i-l is grilling steaks tonight! YUM!!

I have not really been cheating during the day, what my problem was not following the lean and green dinner. We had so many events, parties, functions, eating out , yadda yadda that I just was not making good choices, and for the most part, did not care. Not that I was giving up on my diet, I just wanted to eat what I wanted to eat. I am over it now, all out of my system and still moving forward.

I am going to have to add LF Ritz to my grocery list!
  • Quote: Well, after reading this forum I ordered WS. My box comes tomorrow!!! I am pretty excited, but worried. A while back I tried Medifast and it was just so awful I made it less than one week. I read a lot of reviews that WS is much better. My biggest question to everyone is, why does it seem like nobody does the plan as it is laid out? Is it too hard, or are all the substitutions allowed?

So, looking forward to my box and letting you all know how my work in progress goes.

those are all my wonderslim related posts. Tips, tricks, cheat sheets, menus, recipes and so on.

Many of us do use the plan that is on the WS website. We tweak the food a bit more for flavor and so that we can incorporate a few real food items. People still lose and it makes the plan so easy and yummy. For some, the cost is an issue so comparable grocery store items are thrown in to make the program food last longer.
  • Quote: Kristikins- thanks. Your shake receipe sounds wonderful and i can't wait to try it. As it is, I am planning on starting WS January 1, since the holidays are always super busy with a bunch of food parties and such. I know myself and I know there is no way to start anything until after the holidays. I am a cheater and don't want to fail right out of the gate. But at least I have a little over a week to clear out the crap from my kitchen and get other stuff from the store.
Can I ask, is anyone else a coffee addict? Is there any way to work in the coffee? I usually have a large travel mug (2 cups) with two splenda and a cinnamon or hazelnut cream. I have not ever seen a low cal or fat free flavored creamer. Any ideas?
I have to have my coffee. No way around that. A cup of coffee does not have many calories, like 5 if even that. I use splenda and sugar free creamer. I just suck it up and drink those few calories. I use My Fitness Pal to keep track of my calories and I do pretty good, even with my coffee.
  • Hiya! Just came on to update my ticker (down 12 lbs since I last updated it in, er...? November early?).

I don't do the WS plan, or even half do it anymore, I segued to normal food with my WS as occasional adjuncts, and it's going fine so far. I do think the period of using WS products more frequently very much jumpstarted me well into this WL journey.

My DNA results said I should eat high carb/low fat, and it's been hard doing that. I'm so used to lower carb, but I've added potatoes and rice and stuff. So far, still okay. But I used an Aloha Mango with my toast and cheese this am for added protein.

I wish all the WonderSlimmers a great New Year and may you and I all get to or close to our goal weights in 2011!
  • I gotta admit my personal fault-, I am sooooo lazy. I don't like to workout. I like to lay around, watch TV and eat fast food at night. So, for Christmas my BF bought me a recumbent bike. Kinda neat. Since I am the type that can't leave anything in a box or unopened, I made him put it together right away. I rode for 1/2 hour on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was tough, but I did it. Kinda helps that the TV is in the same room. (can we say reality TV junkie?) Well, I was wondering, how far do you all go in the excercise category? Any one have any great ideas on how to work out without it feeling like a chore? What kind of things do you do? The bike is great, but I think I may get bored with it eventually and should probably do other things as well.

I freaking HATE to exercise. Once upon a time I didn't. Well I hated the gym, still do, but I loved walking and running. Still love walking, just can't run. I do things that don't really seam like exercise. Yoga, walking, bike, roller blades, running around the yard with dogs and a 5yr old, I have a treadmill , and a home gym. I watch tv when I am on the treadmill. I have some exercise videos that I use, mostly walk away the pounds and yoga. Then I have a program on my PC that makes me takes breaks and exercise during my work day. I posted about it a few posts back. Every little bit helps. The key is finding what you do enjoy and going with that.
  • Quote: Hi Smiley,
I am also new to 3fc and ws. I got my box a few days ago and spent a lot of time sorting everything. I have seen all the same frustrations as you with other plans and am hoping ws works for me. This time around my boyfriend is doing this with me and I have extra support here. Good luck to you, fellow newbie. Looking forward to sharing this journey together.

Didn't know whether I should have deleted your response in my reply or not so I didn't and we will see how it turns out. Thats great you have the extra support and that your BF is doing this as well. My husband isn't doing this but he is supporting with this. More or less he is going with it because it is cheaper than JC and you don't know what works until you try it. He is just disappointed when I tried LA that it didn't work for me because a fair bit of money went into it. He just wants to see me happy and to succeed, especially since it isn't just my overall health but because I need to loose it if we are going to go for further fertility treatment. I was diagnosed with PCOS probably about 6 yrs ago when we decided we wanted to try for child number #2. The first one is 8 yrs old now, and we so want to have another child. Hubby feels he is starting to get too old to have a 2nd so we gotta hurry up now and so I ended up signing up for a fertility specialist and have been trying the basic meds almost as far as we can without going up to injections or even IVF. It is also possible too that if I can loose enough weight we can have another naturally without fertility help. I'm tired of wearing plus size clothes, I am ashamed of what size I am, ever since I had my son I have been over 250lbs. I just want to be healthy, and at least at what I weighed when I met my hubby even though that weight is still considered obese.

I look forward to this new adventure and really hope I have better success. Its mainly being motivated to exercise and eating healthier and not as much junkie food. I can't obstain from unhealthy food otherwise I will binge but I will put sweets as a treat, if I crave it only have small amounts and in smart moderation......Look forward to the support here and hope I can be of support too.
  • I'm an exersize hater too! The bike will get old after a little bit, so be prepared for that! I have a stationary bike too - it's in my craft room - needless to say - when I'm in there I'm more interested in creating a work of art rather than riding that thing! I am resolved though - beginning Jan 1st I will ride it EVERY DAY that I don't have stuff going on right after work - bored with it or not...I'll plug my Ipod into the docking station and JAM out!
  • O, BTW I also forgot to mention yesterday that I had a call from DD just to confirm my address since it is international (Canada) and they said it would be sent out today and delivered in 7-14 business days. I got my confirmation email today saying its been shipped but it seems so far away. I wonder if I should have gone from the $41 shipping to the $73 shipping as then it would have been 6 days max. I think I will wait and see how long it takes, if it takes closer to 14 days then next time I will spend the extra $ and do the faster shipping. Just hope there won't be issues going across the border (customs)....
  • Smiley - not sure how Canada post service works, but I've found in the states it really doesn't matter if you pay for quick shipping, you usually get your item in just a couple days anyways! And sometimes even if you pay for quick ship it can take longer! Hopefully you'll get your goodies soon! I know there was someone on here at one time from Canada - don't remember who it was or how quick they got their box though...

    Have a fun day!
  • Today my bf suprised the heck out of me. He is one of those guys who won't read directions or learn about new things that he's not that into. When we did South Beach together he would ask me every single day what he could eat, when he could eat it, what he had to do for excercise. It got soooo frustrating with him that I eventually stopped helping him at all- that is what got us off the beach. Well, he looked through all the stuff that came in the box, even though I sorted it into ziploc bags so all he would have to do is grab a bag in the morning and go. Well, the suprise is that he went through the book and actually read it. He is even filling in pages that set goals. I just can't believe it. He took the initiative. WOW. He is even looking at recipes and tips for how to prepare everything. Even more, he is planning our first day (January 1) and has decided we are having pancakes for breakfast!
  • I am so anxious to get my order. I so wish it wouldn't take as long as they told me.......ARGH!
  • Hey Smiley, it will be there before you know it. When I was waiting for my box I started planning shopping lists and finding interesting recipes for my lean and green meals. It didn't make me want my box any less, but gave me a great distraction.
