Need some new cookware

  • We need some new pots and pans, namely nonstick skillets. I'm willing to venture out of Wal-mart and find some good ones. Any suggestions.
  • My husband actually picked up a non-stick skillet at Walmart and we liked it so much we bought another! It was like $7 (maybe), not a brand name, just a single skillet with a pastel colored bottom. One was even a bonus pack so we got a teeny one and a nice sized one. They've held up well, and I use mine every day.
  • Calphalon non-stick are great quality and you can get them at B,B, and B with a 20% off coupon. I think they are Caphalon One maybe. 40-50 for a good sized, oven - safe skillet.
  • B,B and B, Bed, Bath and Beyond? Sorry, I live in the sticks. 110 mile drive to the nearest, but I will do it for the good stuff.

I did find out, that Pampered Chef has a lifetime guarantee on their stuff.

    Keep the suggestions coming.

Hubby cooks as well, hasbrowns, fried eggs, etc and he likes to cook on a higher heat, that I think is a part of the problem.

If it were up to me, I would do cast iron, but hubby cannot grasp cast iron.
  • Amazon would have them, too, and no 100 mile drive. Cast-iron are all right, but require lots of oil not to stick ( at least for me)

I've heard good things about Pampered Chef, but don't have 1st hand on these.
  • I don't mind the drive, do it about every 3 months, with my sisters just for fun.

My DIL is a Pampered Chef fan, talked to her tonight, got the info on that.

Still want suggestions so I can research and find what will work best for hubby and me.

Has anyone tried that stoneware coated stuff I've seen on infomercials? Not a big infomercial fan, just curious. I do have a Pampered Chef pizza stone that I love. I bake french fries on it, it's great!
  • You cannot go wrong with Pampered Chef or All-Clad.

I have to agree - I have the large deep frying pan w/lid that I got at BB&B as a special a few years ago. Its used at least 4 or 5 times a week and goes in the dishwasher and is still perfect. Food cooks evenly and does not stick. The outside enamel has come off because of the dishwasher but the non stick coating is perfect. I like that I can sear meat on the stove and pop the pan in the oven to finish cooking because the handle is metal.
I used to have T-Fal and all the coating started coming off in the food - I didn't have a dishwasher then so it was just an inferior product. For "pots" I use Princess House stainless steel, I have a couple frying pans and things stick to those but the pots are wonderful.
  • I have Calphalon Cntemporary non-stick and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE em'! I ordered mine at foodnetwork.com store. They frequently have special offers, which helps, since the pans re expensive. Worth every penny I paid, though. Not only can I cook with a LOT less fat, like just a spritz of olive oil from a mister, but the cleanup is practically instant.
