Day 2 of the rest of my life

  • I'm always happier to talk about day two than day one. Day one is TOO intimidating! Will I eat well? Will I go to the gym? Will I cave in before the day is over???

Day two is great. One day of eating really well done. One day of cardio done. One day of success is such a great thing. Something to build on.

So the ugly scale said 231. UGGH. How did that HAPPEN? I never thought I'd gain it back. Famous last words, huh? Of course it could be worse - it could be 252. All the way back to where I started. At least there's 21 pounds I don't have to lose again, right?

So if yesterday was your day one and today is your day two - congratulations! Welcome to day two! Just think - tomorrow will be day three and we'll be well on our way to a permanent change!
  • Day one can be very hard....good for you. Keep building on it day by day!

Plan for tomorrow - but, take it one day at a time.
  • It's extremely commendable that you didn't gain back all the way to 252! Most people gain it all back plus some! So you not only don't have 21 lbs to lose...you probably don't have 31 lbs to lose! LOL! (If you can follow that logic.)

Congrats for getting it back under control! Nothing feels as good as those first successful days and weeks.
  • Day one under your belt - this is big.

I look forward to hearing of your continued progress. You are on your way!!!
  • Good morning Traci! Your post was so motivating - congratulations to you! Today is day 2 of me being back at it again. I'm excited.

    Let's do this!!!
  • Day 2 is something to celebrate! Before you know it, it will be day 15, and then day 41, and then day 200! All those little days of changes and positive choices definitely add up into something good. Yay for Day 2!!!!
  • Hooray for DAY TWO!

The beginning is the hardest and the hardest part is believing.

    So BELIEVE!!!
  • It's my "Day 2"...thanks for the inspiration Traci! I had a "how-did-I-let-this-happen" moment yesterday as well. After being angry and frustrated with myself, I stopped and realized that THAT is exactly how I let it happen in the first place. By not being very nice to myself. I refuse to beat myself up anymore, to NOT look at this as a failure, but rather as an opportunity to better myself. This site has been the first step. Thanks to you all for being such great models and inspiration!
  • woooot.. i needed to hear this! today's day two.. im still chuggin along!
  • congrats on day two Before you know it, it will be day 2000 and you'll wonder why day two seemed so difficult.

    Good luck!
  • Great job! Keep it up!!!
  • Traci thanks for starting this thread. Good Luck on your diet. I'm restarting after gaining back 30 LBS. I started calorie counting today but went over plan. But I exercised and want to get my water in. So I'm going to try to plan better tomorrow. We need to focus on the things we do right each day and eventually we will do better at this.
  • WTG - each day is a step on the changes for the rest of your life!!
  • Thanks to all for the words of encouragement and welcome to all those who are starting or re-starting on the same timeline. We're a ready-made support group, huh? I feel better about things knowing you all are with me.

VickieLou - we look like we're in the same boat. You're braver than I am - 145 puts me in the "normal" BMI and I'm just not brave enough to set my goal any lower than that. Of course, I am OLD! I think the last time I was not overweight on that chart was probably in about 7th grade. That would have been 1978. :-( I was 171 when I got married and man do I think I look thin in those pictures. I don't know that I can maintain 145 but I certainly want to get there, look around, and see what the view is.

So I gave myself a blister the first time I got on the treadmill in probably four months. Talk about making things difficult for yourself! So no cardio today, but that's ok. I'm short on sleep today so I'll give myself a break. 30 minutes of yoga and eating perfectly on plan. Tomorrow morning it's 60 minutes of cardio - the blister is re-absorbing pretty well - and then day three of eating perfectly on plan.

Here's something to try if you like cabbage - slice 1/2 a cabbage thin and half an onion thin and throw them in a skillet with a couple of tablespoons of margarine. Salt and pepper well and cook over medium heat until it all begins to carmelize. It is yummy!

See you all tomorrow - at day three!
