NIV© So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.
  • I receive a weekly e-mail from the Pastor of a church we visit sometimes on vacation....this was todays...I thought the versus at the bottom may help you...

Here's something to think about from Dr. Dale Meyer. I pray it is a timely
    encouragement for you.

    Keyword: Worry
In "Standing on the Promises", Susan Wales quotes a Vicki Baum: "You don't
get ulcers from what you eat. Your get them from what's eating you." (p.
    138)
What's eating you this Wednesday morning? Take this minute to apply some
promises from God to your worries.
"Turn your burdens over to the Lord, and He will take care of you. He will
never let the righteous person stumble." (Psalm 55:22)
"Thanks be to the Lord, who daily carries our burdens for us. God is our
    salvation." (Psalm 68:19)
"When I worried about many things, Your assuring words soothed my soul."
    (Psalm 94:19)
"My God will richly fill your every need in a glorious way through Christ
    Jesus." (Philippians 4:19)
Lord Jesus, sometimes my worries consume me. As You told Martha, tell me
now: One thing is needful, the Word of promise. Remind me that in You all
the comforting promises of God are "Yea" and "Amen."

  • I love those Gary!
  • GARY ~ I think the good doctor has a great point there, and could very well have been talking about weight issues as ulcers. I believe many people overeat becuz something is bothering or stressing them in their lives. Most of us are already experts on eating healthy foods now, but we need to be released of past hurts and today's stresses, and learn how to give those burdens to GOD and leave them there ...

I like Psalm 55:22 for the same reason ~ I have a note on my desk that says: YESTERDAY ENDED LAST NIGHT, so let it go ...

Another verse I like is Phil 4:13 ~ "I CAN do ALL things through CHRIST, who strengthens me!"

Galatians 5:22/23 ~ The fruits of the Spirit are Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering (Patience), Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control ... I tell myself this -- "I HAVE self-control; so I AM blessed!"
  • A few more reminders that we never face our challenges alone:

    Psalm 138:3
In the day that I called, you answered me. You encouraged me with strength in my soul.

    Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.

    Philippians 1:6
...being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
  • And don't forget the 23rd Psalm. I also love Isaiah 40:31. Just a couple of favorites, I have many more.
  • BARGOO ~ I am the same as you: I love the 23rd Psalm too and often sing it. I like so many verses that there are too many to mention them all ...

JEREMIAH 31:3 ~ I have loved you with an everlasting love ...

JEREMIAH 30:17 ~ I will restore health unto you and will heal you of all your wounds, saith the Lord ...

ISAIAH 41:13 ~ For I the LORD thy GOD, will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, FEAR NOT: I will help thee!

Phillipians 4:7 ~ And the peace of GOD, that passeth understanding, shall guard your hearts and minds, through Jesus Christ.

2 Timothy 1:7 ~ For GOD has not given us a spirit of fear: but of Power, and of Love, and of a sound mind.

Psalm 18:2 ~ The LORD is my Rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my GOD; my Strength; in whom I will trust, my buckler; and the horn of my salvation; and my high tower.

Psalm 31:24 ~ Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.
  • John 14:27
"Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful."

    I Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
  • Here's some more that I like ...

ISAIAH 26:3 ~ Thou will keep him (her) in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he (she) trusteth in thee.

ISAIAH 41:10 ~ FEAR THOU NOT; for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy GOD: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

ISAIAH 43:1 ~ FEAR NOT: for I have redeemed thee; I have called thee by thy name; (and) thou art mine.
  • One of my very favorite scriptures that I feel in my spirit, my heart daily is "Be still and know that I am God", and of course the 23rd Psalm has always been special to me as my Pappy recited it to me often.
There is a prayer that I gets me through each day, that I feel prepares me to face the day and the things that may lay in my path.

    Dear Lord I pray...,
Please, as I enter into this new day with which you have blessed me..
Bind my mind to the mind of Jesus Christ
Bind my will to the will of God and
Bind my feet to the paths of righteousness.
Destroy wrong thought patterns, wrong attitudes, wrong habits and the strongholds that protect them in and around me Dear Lord. Amen.

I pray that these may speak to your heart in the way that God intends if that so be His will...

    God Bless

  • 3 John:2
Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.

    John 6:27
Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.

a few verses that mean a lot to me.
Thank everyone for the the wonderful verses they shared.
  • I love Lamentations 3:58 from the Amplified Bible
O Lord you have pleaded the causes of my soul, You have managed my affairs and You have protected my person and my rights, you have rescued and redeemed my life!

That settles my spirit when I start to get anxious about life.
  • John 20:29 Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believed
1Cor 1:18 The message of teh cross is foolish to those who are perishing but not to us who are saved by its power.
