root beer floaty type thing

  • The other day I was having a craving for something sweet. I had a can of diet root beer and some ice cubes made from skim milk (don't ask-another food experiment that didn't work as well as I thought-a variation of iced coffee-turns out I like my milk to be liquid in my coffee) I poured the root bear over the frozen milk cubes and it almost tasted like a root beer float with ice cream. Well almost and it really did hit the spot.

  • Yum.

We use coffee ice cubes in our iced coffee. No dilution of the coffee, but we also like our milk...liquid.
  • Another good trick is sf gingerale and skim milk. Just be sure to put the milk in first and then add the gingerale or it curdles. You can do the same with diet colas - tastes like an ice cream float.....sort of.
  • thanks i would never had thought of it sound good gonna try it tonight
  • My version of the root beer float was inspired by some of the ingredients from the peanut butter cup recipe here... I used a mini can of diet, sugar-free A&W, then dissolved a sugar-free fudge pop in it by stirring it into the soda, and topped it with a small dollop of cool whip free. The consistency isn't the smoothest (may want to consider melting the pop and adding it next time), but it's pretty good!
