  • i was not in my car at the time... it was 1:45 this morning, and the cops knocked on my door. my 1999 VW Golf (that i just bought a month ago) was 50 feet away from where it had been parked last night. it is completely totaled.

    UGHHHHHHHHHHH

the woman who did it got arrested and she has insurance, so there should be no problem there. i still want to punch her in the face, though. sdjklfsjsdfjkl
  • That's awful. Thank goodness for insurance and for the fact that she didn't kill anyone. I'm sorry.....what a bummer.
  • Ooh, I had something like that happen the week before I graduated from college. And the guy who did it was cracking up at the time, and his insurance company was not nice to me. They tried to imply this was my fault. Hello? I was asleep in my bed while my car was legally parked when the accident occurred. Grrr. It's annoying, and I'm sorry you have to deal with it!
  • I'm so sorry!

On the bright side, she has insurance and you weren't hurt.

On the not so bright side, now you have to go through the whole process of buying a new car. Ick! Although, maybe the prices will be better on account of the steadily worsening economy?

    Good luck!
  • SUCKS! too bad you can't punch her because she's in JAIL! silver lining i guess...
  • thank goodness you werent in the car and she didnt injure/kill someone. I hope insurance takes care of it fast and she gets some much needed jail time and help.
  • I am so happy to hear you weren't in the car at the time and no one else was injured or hurt.

    Brighter side of life:
    You get a new car.
    You were not hurt.
She is in jail and can not hurt anyone else for the time being even herself.
    She had insurance.
  • Similar thing happened to my car a couple months ago... it's really not so bad! As the posters before me said, no one was hurt and it wasn't your fault so your insurance isn't effected. The best thing about the situation is that she stuck around so that there's insurance to cover your expenses.

It is a huge pain in the butt in terms of time spent to go to the autobody shop and the car rental places... but hey, again, could be worse.

Very weird to wake up to a cop knocking on your door at 1:45am (for me it was 1:30am) to tell you that someone hit your car. very weird.
  • That really sucks. A friend of mine lost his life back when I was in high school. Some drunk driver hit them(his girlfriend and him) and I think they said they both died instantly. It's sad because people don't take into consideration the lives they hurt or the lives they can hurt. He was suppose to graduate that year too. =(
  • im so sorry! i really HATE drunk drivers!
  • same..i despise drunk drivers and i seriously think that anyone who is that stupid shouldn't be let back on the road..EVER!

glad it was parked and no one driving!
  • That definitely sucks....but glad to hear that you weren't in the car at the time. Hopefully things will get squared away with insurances and everything soon.
  • I used to drive a 96 VW Golf, what a great car!! I totaled it on my 21st birthday, but that was my fault. Hopefully her insurance will cover the full cost of the car and in a timely manner!
  • Wow I am sorry to hear that happened.. but I knew you would be okay when I started to read this because you actually posted about it and you are not stuck in a hospital bed... or a coffin

I am glad you are okay
  • thanks everyone! the EMTs said that if she hadn't been drunk, she would probably be dead... since she didn't tense up to try and absorb the impact. i looked at the scene more carefully this morning (when it was light out) and saw that my car actually JUMPED the curb and then swerved out onto the street. it was in park and the emergency brake was on. jesus h. she must have been going at least 70. at LEAST.

so today was really depressing and i ate pretty terribly. whatever. i am stressed out about money, school, and now my car. at least my boyfriend is still awesome and nice. he talked to the cops with me while i sobbed and cursed out lookyloos who were coming out of the apartment building across the street from us.

i'm mostly pissed off because that car was SO nice. the car i had before it was a piece of crap... a 94 ford taurus. and now i will probably have to get a crappier car again.

i'm also peeved because the cops left all the glass and plastic in the road... i called the police station and they said that it was our responsibility to clean it up (even though most of the bits were from her car and the accident was obviously not my fault). GRR.
