  • a good day for me consists of....

breakfast: 1cup cereal w/ 1/2 cup low fat milk OR yogurt with fruit

lunch: ham sandwhich on lite bread.. no condiments OR 1 piece of bread with 1 slice of cheese and an egg cooked overeasy OR tuna made with lite mayo, celery, onion, pickles diced OR fat free turkey hot dogs

dinner: small portion of whatever was cooked for dinner at home (i live with my parents)

PLUS no snacking and i drink all my 64oz water!!!
  • On my good days I usually eat pretty consistently. I like to eat a lot in the evening, so I don't snack much throughout the day and save up my calories for the end of the day (bad habit! but whatever works). My day usually adds up to between 1200 and 1500 cals.

Breakfast - large bowl of oatmeal with 1/2 c. soy milk, ground flax seed and stevia

Lunch - protein shake or protein bar, apple, banana

Dinner - baked fish or veggie burger patty (PC makes a tasty one), LOTS of steamed veggie (usually cauliflower or broccoli) with garlic salt, and some kind of home made bean salad

Desert - cut up banana in 1/2 c. plain yogurt (not the fat free kind)

Evening snack - granola bar OR dry wholewheat cheerios OR bag of microwave popcorn
  • For breakfast I like to have scrambled eggs (one whole egg and one just whites) with 2 pieces of whole grain bread and a fruit.

Lunch, whole grain tortilla or pita with some hummus and turkey.

dinner, chicken breast stir fried with broccoli, served with rice.

snacks, low fat yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, carrots and broccoli dipped in low fat veggie dip, small serving of nuts, fruit, whole grain cereal.
  • In order to "be good", I find it absolutely necessary to have a food plan and to be prepared. Without this, I eat pretty much whatever is easy and within reach, whether it's nutritional or not. My best weeks are those where I shop on the weekend and prepare my lunches for the whole week (1/2 chicken breast, 1/2 cup brown rice, 1/2 cup broccoli pieces). I always keep some of my favorite frozen dinners and cans of soup accessible for those nights when I get home from work exhausted and want to eat NOW! Nothing good ever comes out of me waiting to prepare a meal. By the time I sit down to eat, I've eaten a meal's worth of calories from picking...
