Losing water weight?

  • I have been dropping pounds way too fast to be possible, so I must be losing water.

I've never noticed this happening before so I don't get it. I drink water--and I will be making sure that I drink a ton now to see if this reverses.

I guess I am eating less salt, but not by much. I am two weeks away from TOM, so that shouldn't be a factor either.

I've been eating to lose about 1.5/lbs week and I've lost 6.6 lbs in nine days.

Anyone have any ideas why this could be happening?
  • Is this your first week doing this? We often lose a lot in the beginning few weeks, and it's not unhealthy.

Do you have a lot of weight to lose? The more we have to lose, the more we tend to drop.
  • I should have mentioned that I am just starting. Also, I am not on a super low-carb diet or anything like that.

I don't have enough to lose that those numbers make sense. My starting weight was 140.4. According to my scale right now I am 133.8. That's nearly a 5% loss in a week and a half.

I am not complaining, but I don't believe it either.

In the first two weeks, this is actually very common to drop big numbers. Plenty of 3FCr's do.

Is your scale working properly? (Just in case!)

I'm thinking enjoy it these first few weeks. If you're worried that it continues for too long, add 100 calories in and see if that levels things out.

I wouldn't be too concerned this much in the beginning.
  • I lost ten pounds in the first three weeks after starting WW. I was exercising along with diet, and I honestly think I just shocked my body. It was a great way to start off. You just have to be prepared when it slows down.
