Double Workouts

  • is it bad to do the same workout....
    muscle toning, cardio....
    50 minute....
    twice in a day....
    morning and afternoon?....
  • Are you toning the same set of muscles in the morning and night workouts? Do you take days off of this workout schedule? Are you doing the exact same workout every day and night?
  • i havent done it night and morning yet....
im curious as to whether it would have more of an affect....
yes it would be the same workout....
but would only be on the odd day, like a Sunday....
when i am far less active than other days of the week....
i mite just go jump on the bike for half hour instead....
  • I would do different workouts. Letting your body repair is just as important as working out. If you want to be extra active, definitely do a different activiity like you said. It is better for your body. It is better not to completely tire your body out with too much working out. Your workouts become less effective anyway because you are too physically exhausted to push yourself hard.
  • i guess so....
im still loosing as many lbs a week as when i first started by doing the exercises....
    long may this continue....
  • Hmmm I don't know...
My husband does two-hour strength training and cardio twice a day on the weekends, but remember he's probably in a lot better shape and at a higher level of conditioning than... well, most people on the planet.

I don't think it will hurt, but you need to make sure you have a rest day during the week (he takes mondays off and spends that day eating MORE than usual.. ugh) and he loads up on protein supplements before and after his workouts, which I also don't think you'll need in large quantities for your workout unless you're trying to support a 6'5" body with 24" biceps on a 12 mile ruck march with a 125lb pack. And yes, I know he's insane.

I would say trying it out and seeing how you feel would be your best bet. Good luck!
  • I've worked out twice a day before but I'll only do cardio twice a day. With weight training getting adequate rest is just as important as doing the exercises. Doing the extra cardio would give you an added calorie burn, but I'd lay off on doing the resistance training (of the same muscles) more than once every other day.
  • i cycled for half an hour in addition to my normal routine....
  • During the week, I'll do an extra session of cardio in the morning before work (I'm not sure HOW I do it, but it's become a routine). Usually, if I'm going to bother working out, I'm going to make it count so I work out pretty hard. Not to the point of passing out or hurting myself EVER, but I work up a good sweat and am winded. I think as long as you aren't hurting yourself or becoming obsessed, another workout session in a day is a good thing. It probably makes you feel good when it's done, and we could all use a little more of the "feel good" in our lives!
