How soon is too soon for a second Phase 1?

  • I am feeling myself "slipping" a bit. I have been doing SBD like 5-6 weeks now, though I have been watching what I eat for 12 weeks now. I have been doing great -- and I've lost 15 pounds on SBD alone. But, I find myself slacking on walking, and making little cheats -- but lots of them. I had AF last week and I never really recovered from the cravings.

I really really don't want to fall off the wagon. Do you think it would be helpful to do another week of Phase 1? To get rid of some of those cravings? Ugh!
  • i bet you find 2 or 3 days is all you need...
  • if you see on the p1 starters and restarters there are many who are doing p1 again to get back on track
  • I've done 3-4 days of Phase I after a few days of overeating & it worked like a charm for me.
  • I'm only four days in to phase 2, and I'll be doing another phase 1 next week - though it's a special case since I'm doing it just to give me that extra boost before going on vacation (I'll probably do another phase 1 week when I get home, too). Personally, I don't see how throwing a phase 1 week or two in at any time would hurt anyone.

Hope you kick those nasty AF cravings soon - she just comes along and messes everything up, doesn't she?
  • She sure does! Thanks ladies! Maybe I will just do 3-5 days or so! I do just need to get back on track!
  • I'm doing the same sort of thing. I had a weekend of food debauchery so I'm P1ing it for this week just to get the cravings back under control. Good luck with your journey!
  • I am back on Phase 1- Day 3 for me- I was starting to slip up all the time, it was time to kick the cravings and by the way my body is reacting- headaches and such- I can tell this was a good thing for me to do so I can kickstart the program again.
  • Please remember that the purpose of Phase I is to detox, not for weightloss. Weightloss is a nice bonus but certainly won't be as much as the first time. Doing a firm and strict Phase II is the way to continue to lose in a healthy manner.
  • Ruth - Thanks for the reminder! I know for that for me, after I ate what I did over the weekend, I need a few days to bring me back focused. I know I introduced stuff back into my diet that were triggers. It's mostly for me about the brain, not the waist.
  • Dr. Agatston in his new book states that if you have gained 10# or are having cravings, you may need to return to Phase I for several days until your cravings subside.
  • Exactly! "if you've gained ten pounds" "for several days" - not a two week Phase I.
  • It's probably a little different for me - I just started phase 2 last Friday, so all I would do to "repeat" phase 1 would be dropping my one serving of oatmeal per day. I know phase 1 isn't a crash-diet or anything, but having a clean slate as far as cravings can only help me while I'm on vacation the following week, and my plan to do another phase 1 week when I get home is mainly because I know I won't eat 100% "clean" while I'm there, so there will be cravings to undo when I get back.

I dunno - I guess I just look at phase 1 as something that's just as healthy as phase 2, so I've never considered that dropping back to it might be a bad thing regardless of reason. I'm probably wrong about that (as I am about most things according to my teenager lol).
  • Thanks everyone. I had a really good solid on program day, that didn't feel shakey at all. So, maybe I am OK after all? I am going to see how this week goes and then decide. But, as long as I am not really struggling I think I'll just stil with Ph2.
