Whoo-hoo! New pair of shoes!

  • Went to the real live running store last week and two GORGEOUS young men felt my feet and poked my knees and watched me walk and fixed me up with some AWESOME shoes! I've got shin splints again from the old shoes, but the new ones feel great! Ran Friday just to try them out and they made me faster and they don't hurt anywhere! Of course, aggravated the dumb shins, but I'm hoping they're good to go by tomorrow if I take it easy this weekend.

Who'd have thunk it? Excited about ugly tennies!
  • LOL - you're as bad as me.

The only good thing IMHO about me not being able to ride bikes because of an annoying case of tennis elbow is that I took up jogging. Which resulted in the need for a real pair of running shoes.
  • I don't run, but getting a very good pair of shoes for walking was a great purchase. I bought them from a running store and got the same great service that Traci got. I couldn't believe the difference it made for even lots of walking.
  • I love new sneakers! They always feel so good!
  • I love new shoes! I get excited like you!
  • Congratulations, Traci! Shoes are the most important piece of exercise equipment that we can invest in.
  • Shoes are a wonderful investment! I would be excited too.
  • Woo Hoo! New shoes are always fun!
  • I always feel like such a jock when I get new shoes!
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who does a happy dance over a pair of shoes!
  • Woohoo. That's so exciting. I got mine last weekend and have only got to try them out twice.
  • Congrats Traci! I'll have to wait until May or June before I can get new shoes (too expensive!) but I really can't wait!

By the way, what do you do for your shins? Ever since I started warming them up by walking on my toes for 20 seconds, then 20 seconds walking on my toes with my toes pointed out, then 20 seconds walking on my toes with my toes pointed in, and then walking on my heels, I just don't get shin splints anymore. Even on the treadmill. Or was it just old shoes?
  • Congratulations on the new shoes!!!!!!!!

I started running at the beginning of the year, then had to take about three weeks off nursing shin splints, so I totally feel your pain... I complained and limped around the house for a couple of days and then my DH took me out and we got me a pair of Nike Shox. I am a bargain hunter shopper and it killed me to pay so much for a pair of shoes... I've never spent so much money on shoes in my life, but now I can run again!!! I LOVE THEM!!!!!

I never thought I would run again, but I am and I am LOVING IT!!!

    for running.... lol
  • It's just the shoes. I stretch and warm up and all, but when the shoes start to go, here come the shin splints. And I'm too stubborn to quit running until I have time to go get new ones, so I suffer for a while. Now they're bad and I couldn't even run this morning, so I walked and rowed and lifted and whined about my shins! Maybe by the middle of the week I can run.

Here's a funny thing about new shoes - they really do make me faster. I get in better shape over the course of a pair of shoes but I don't run faster because the shoes are breaking down and I get stuck in my little rut. Then I get a new pair of shoes and they feel so good on my feet that I have to see how fast I can go and how far I can run and I always break my own record. :-) I LOVE new shoes!

Oh - New Balance 858 stability for whoever asked. They're awesome!
