  • Tawnya, sorry to hear your cleaning plans got sidelined. I say for sure put those boys to work! My kids LOVE to help me clean - goodness knows why. I give them a quarter for each chore they do so maybe that's their motivation? They just think it's fun. I try to take advantage of it while I can! I'm glad to hear your husband is doing well. PTSD must be as hard on you all as it is on him. Have you been through counselling? I would have no idea how to deal. I told Tom if he ever had to go to a war zone, we'd all have weekly sessions with the chaplain when he got back!

Stephanie, we need to send our devils to sleep away camp. And then change our locks while they're away.

Jess, glad you came back to play with us! I look forward to getting to know you better!

LC, you definitely look skinnier to me! Glad your husband finally caught on!!!

Dawn, I literally laughed out loud when I read where you put your scale! I have decided as of tonight I will not weigh again until the day we leave, which is February 6th. Then I will weigh again when we get to Germany and my scale comes in the shipment - that might be in April or May, knowing the "speedy" Air Force contracted shipping!!! So until then I am going to stay on plan. No excuses. It'll be like a scale-free adventure! The Great Scale-Free Experiement of 2008!

Schmoodle, don't go slipping up (or down) any mountains! Enjoy your last couple days with the man. I must admit that I am a little embarassed to say I have no idea what the Merchant Marines do. I do know that Tom's grandfather was a Merchant Marine. But I have no clue what he did! Do tell!!!

Ruth, drive safely! Hope Hershey's cut comes out nicely!

Pam, I am so sorry to hear about your mom! You all will be in our thoughts and prayers. Please let us know how she is doing!

ETA - Hey Kim! Hope your day turns out to be splendid and that your homework is super easy!

My eyelids are heavy so I think I'm going to hit the sack. Good night, ladies!

  • Kara, My mom is out in Okinawa working for dods. I used to live with her when she was stationed in Iwakuni, Japan----I know what it's like with the wonderful "contracted" movers. They just move so fast huh? (yeah right). Good night and don't let the bed bugs bite.
  • Oh, the bed bugs are long gone thanks to the below-freezing temps! We had mosquito infestations this summer - poor Avery got alllll bit up - but luckily, there are no critter problems now. I've heard great things about Japan. Did you like it there?

I'm really, for real, going to bed this time!

    Kara
  • I loved Japan We wish we could go back some day. I'm very familiar with their culture as I'm half japanese raised in hawaii (alot of the population is asian). I have been to japan my 9th grade year for high school wrestling. yes, japan is wonderful. tawnya
  • woohoo........i weighed myself and lost another pound. i am shocked!!!!!!
  • tawnya: Congrats on being 1 lb. down! Also - strange coincidence is that I'm 1/4 Japanese, 1/4 Hawaiian and 1/2 Anglo. My mom was raised in Japan and Hawaii as well as in Panama, although nobody in the family is from Panama. Too weird. My big sister and I are trying to plan a trip to Japan in the next year so that we can escort my grandmother back home. We're also going to try to stay for about a month with my grandma's family. The Japanese have the most interesting cultural history and we really want to immerse ourselves in it for a while.
  • goood morning chicas

I'm beginning my 4th day today and so far everything is going great! I refuse to weigh in until Tuesday or maybe even Wednesday! I really don't want to know! I do know that I'm feeling a lot more energy now! I'm waking up a little fresher! In the past few months, I wake up feeling tired and groggy..but the past few days, it's been like I'm just waking up ready to get my day started! I had a hysterectomy in August and had lost about 1/2 my blood volume..so I have had alot to contend with, a lot of rebuilding! It's nice to be feeling more normal again! I didn't have to have a transfusion, but if my blood count had dropped one more point I would have. Crazy!
Well...I've got tons to do today! better get it started!
Hope you all have a fantastic day!

  • Kim-I see you are in Texas, where at? I'm in houston. small world huh? I miss home.
  • I'm in Alpine, Tx. Home for me is actually San Antonio and Austin. I would love to be able to say that Japan and Hawaii feel like home to me, but I've never been to Japan and the last time we were in Hawaii is when my great-grandfather passed away when I was 5. I don't really remember anything.

Can you believe that I've lived in Texas all my 26 years and have only been to Houston 3 times?!
  • I moved to Texas 20 years ago. I used to go to Houston a couple of times a year when my aunt was alive but I think I've only been back once since she died. The drive from Dallas is just such a pain.
  • Yeah, dallas is far. My husband is trying for the dallas police department and cedar park police department. We don't like houston (moreso my husband than me). I'm starting to make friends and get my home business up and running and if I have to move, that'll set me back again. I wouldn't mind moving, it's just that when I get comfortable, that's when we have to move. It was like that in the military. I hated it. I love the military life but just to pick up and move just as you're getting comfortable is a pain. Oh well, life goes on and we adjust right?
  • Wow! My parents live 15 minutes away from Cedar Park. (In Leander.) I love that area. It is a really nice part of the Austin-area to live in. I really like the close community atmosphere they have there. A lot of money goes into family parks, libraries, and etc. DH hates being that close to civilization, though. He's a country boy, through and through, so we'll always be Way Out West, I'm sure.
  • Hello everyone,

Thank you for having such a great place for people to get support! I'm starting the SB Diet tomorrow along with my husband. We live in the DFW area in Texas and have two wonderful children.

I plan to be a new regular here on the forum!! I've gotten so many great ideas already.

Have a great weekend and thanks again!!

  • Welcome to the Beach, Mary! There are a couple of us (kiko and I) that are in the Dallas area. One of these days, we will meet. Maybe this summer when it actually is warm enough to use the new pool I just had put in. Kiko has two kids and I have one son who is in fifth grade. It's always fun to meet new people.
  • Has anyone tried those breakfast muffins made with ricotta chesse, i was interested in the savory ones???
