Strength Training Question

  • Is there an alternative to lifting weights for strength training? Like pilates? I would like to start but, ironically, cancelled my gym membership since money is a little tighter as a SAHM.
    Thanks!
  • You can do body weight exercises. You can also invest in some dumbbells or resistance bands.

Self.com has a lot of various things you can do that don't involve weights

You can also do a search online for body weight exercises or resistance band exercises.
Pushups, squats, lunges, plie squats, tricep dips, etc all don't require weights other than your own.

I've started doing kettlebells which only requires one piece of equipment. I found mine at Target.

  • Hi! I also need to start strength training. A lot of women here use the resistance bands. I bought some and plan on adding those into my regimen. They sell them at Target and the are relatively inexpensive.
  • I like resistence bands. I take a few classes at the gym that use them so I bought one for home for the days I don't make it to the gym. Mine was under $10 at Target and you can do exercises for the whole body with them.
