I got the weirdest feeling on Thursday

  • I work at an elementary school as an assistant and I usually eat lunch with my kids. Normally I pack a lunch, but on Thursday I had overslept and just did NOT have time. So I figured I'd get something from the cafeteria because for a while there they were using whole grains. Figures, the ONE TIME I actually get food from there, its not..Anyhoo, they had a choice between spaghetti and a roll or fried fish sandwich...since I know i CANT eat fried food (They don't agree with my belly anymore) I chose to have the spaghetti and a banana becuz the only veggies they hadwere mashed potatoes. Let me say...I had the weirdest feeling after I ate. i was shaky and my heart was beating really fast and I just felt BLECH!! I can not eat any of that stuff (white flour pasta or banana) anymore.
  • Isn't it a darned shame that a school cafeteria would not offer a selection of vegetables, or even a salad! Many schools in our area are really concentrating on including healthier choices in their cafeterias. It's really sad that you weren't offered a better selection.
  • Man. That stinks! I wonder if you had been able to have a fair amount of protein with your lunch if that would have helped?

  • Yikes! I wonder what happened? Then again, I remember my middle school lunches about 10 years ago and they were so covered in grease we had to go through knapkin after knapkin to soak up the grease before things were edible *shudder* But since you had spaghetti I wonder what happened..? But no matter what some people think I still hold that after living all over the US, the cafeteria food that kids are offered is simply lacking..
  • I had the same thing happen to me after I ate my first piece of banana bread in years. I think I had a sugar high.
  • Tummy does not like banannas anymore. Go straight through me.

Our elementarys are pretty good with a salad bar. And the kids actually eat stuff from it.
