spaghetti sauce is fine in phase 1 but you want to find one that does not have added sugar. I like the Ragu Light Tomato and Basil No Sugar Added. I buy it at Walmart. There are other ones that have no sugar added but this is one my son will eat. Don't worry about the amount of sugar in the nutritional information as the tomatoes have natural sugar. Just check the ingredient list. You will also want to make sure that it doesn't have meat added since that would add saturated fat. You can always brown your own lean meat to add to it.
In phase 1 you can serve it over spaghetti sauce or lots of veggies. I like it with squash, mushrooms and onions. In phase 2, you can use whole wheat pasta.
