Default confused a little

I was under the impression that SBD was a diet/lifestyle change where we didn't bother with counting calories or weighing portions, yet in a lot of posts I read people are running their meals through fitday for the nutritional info. Not that I'm against nutritonal info, LOL but is this something I should be doing? or are these people mixing more than one type of diet??

thx

You don't need to count calories to follow South Beach but many people find that they are not eating enough or that they are eating too much and so they like to occasionally run their food through Fit Day to see if they are in a normal calorie range.

A lot of people do it for portion control too since there's so much "portion distortion" out there. You can eat too much of the right foods and not lose weight. Calorie counting helps some people learn and get into the habit of proper portions. I count calories everyonce in a while but mostly just follow the portion suggestions for whatever phase I'm on at the time.
