Question why is hot sauce on the "sparingly" list?

I love to add some Texas Pete to nearly everything I eat. I figure if it can't be sweet, it might as well be hot Now I noticed that it is on the food list in the use sparingly section. all it has in it is peppers and vinegar, salt, xanthum gum and benezoate soda to preserve freshness. The only thing listed is sodium no carbs, no calories, etc, etc. Is it just the sodium?? I can't stay away esp with all these freaking eggs

It's probably because of the sodium. Check out the FAQ section for ideas other than eggs.
And to The Beach!

I am ignoring that one -- I drown eggs, omlettes, cottage cheese etc. in Tapatio sauce.

I think there is hot sauce & then that stupid, sweet taco bell type hot sauce that has sugar in it...my beloved Tapatio, is made totally of hot peppers and spices and has nothing bad in it and I would NEVER use it "sparingly" diet or no diet!

Tomorrow is my last day on Phase 1 and I've lost 7 pounds!! So I would say, don't worry about the hot sauce unless it's oily or sweet or something.

Some hot sauces have other ingredients, such as carrots, fruit, or corn syrup. Personally, I feel that if it's the plain ol' simple hot sauce (peppers, vinegar, maybe some garlic or spices, some kind of preservative maybe), then go for it! It wouldn't make sense for the sodium in hot sauce to be a problem, when canned tomatoes and beans and such are okay (IMHO).

Hi all. I'm deployed and Texas Pete is one of the only good sauces that makes the galley food edible around here. Trying to cut back on regular salt.

Isn't the Navy supposed to have the best food of all the military branches? Not that that necessarily means it's good, of course. DH's grandpa was an officer in the Navy in WW2, and I seem to recall him liking the food reasonably well - especially curry.
