Default Caffeine?

Hi everyone, I just started the SBD. I was wondering how big of a deal it is if I drink more than 2 caffeinated beverages per day. Is this going to greatly affect my weightloss? I don't think I can function with only 2/day, and I don't want to go through withdraws right before finals.

Some of us never quit drinking coffee. Two cups a day should be fine.

Ruthie, she wants MORE than two cups!! You're not awake yet, either, huh?

I have three or four cups of coffee a day, UnCafeCvooPlay. It hasn't affected my ability to lose weight. (shut up, Ruth) I figure it's a pretty small evil.

I am new to all this but the way it sounded is that caffeine may stimulate your appetite. I have honestly spent weeks where I had no caffeine whatsoever and then weeks where I didnt worry about the caffeine intake and had as much as I wanted. For me, it didnt seem to make a difference in my appetite at all. That's just me, though. And I'm not sure of all the other reasons why it isnt allowed. If it keeps me on plan to drink diet sodas (with caffeine) it's a better alternative to a fatty latte or worse.

I find that a cup of coffee actually decreases my appetite. I have one every afternoon with a small snack and it gets me through to dinner. The afternoon cup is usually my third or forth, and last cup of the day. I've have also heard of studies that have found that coffee raises your metablolism and helps with weight loss, but I know that for every study there is one that finds the opposite results. so I think it should be whatever works best for each individual.

Rebel and Olive, I'm with both of you. Coffee seems to make no difference to my appetite, and like you, Olive, it's actually a treat for me.
I grind my beans and it's very good, strong coffee. I heat the skim milk in my mug before pouring the coffee, and it's a little latte-like.

On the subject of caffeine...I found a WONDERFUL coffee. I'm not sure that it's totally on plan, but I couldnt find anything "bad" in it either. It's by Millstone and it's called Chocolate Velvet. I dont have to add creamers or even much equal, it just has a wonderful taste. It's not sweet or anything and is typical "black coffee" looking.

Is this something specific to Kansas? If so, please send two large crates up to The Great White North.

LOL! I dont think it is...just a brand name. I am not a major coffee drinker unless it's a mexican mocha or iced coffee from a coffee shop here in town. Which is SO off plan...I hate think how fattening!! Anyhow, I love this coffee! Check in your stores and maybe they have a website and ship their products. You'll love it!

I have read studies that say caffeine keeps you from burning fat and I figured that is why it was limited. Maybe someone who is a SBD board member could ask them and let us know! teehee
Ellis you can order Millstone's coffee on line!!!!!!! they have a lot to choose from.

Thanks, Bamie!
No no. I'm sure it makes my heart race when I drink coffee, which means my metabolism is shooting through the roof, which means I'm burning fat.

Well, ellis, given that theory being in love or having a panic attact should also make you lose weight, no?
I find that I just feel better when I don't have caffiene. It takes a while to adjust to it, but eventually I have more energy, sleep better, etc. And as an added bonus, but no having it so much, when I do need that extra kick it actually IS an extra kick.

Thank you all very much I might actually be able to go on this diet now. I can't give up caffeine right now being in college and everything and the headaches would just get in the way too much. No time for headaches here. Thank you all again.
