You're welcome. I've been enjoying this board for a long time but just started to post. I don't know how much I'll post but I wanted to give something back!

Hey what about the Hood Fatfree Eggnog??
I can't find all the ingredients, but it says no sugar added.. just curious if anyone has tried it or knows exactly what's in it. http://www.hphood.com/products/prodDetail.aspx?id=392 Next time I'm at the store I'll check it out and if it's a good product I'll buy it and post the ingredients for y'all

Question
Are you allowed to have tomato sauce/tomato soup on phase 1??? I have a great Chilli recipe but not sure if we can have tomato sauce and tomato soup?
Can we have green peppers?
Can we have mayonaise on phase I?
Can we have cool whip?

Tomato sauce and soup often have a lot of extra sugars. And I think there is even a daily limit on regular tomatos. But I have made a chili recipe from the South Beach Diet online recipe database and there are a lot of salads that have tomato in them. I'll defer to someone more knowledgable on the tomato issue.
Green peppers, yes.
Mayonaise, yes. I think regular mayo is actually better than lite.
Cool Whip Free has the South Beach endorsment logo on it so its okay but limit it to 2 tbsp per day.

You may enjoy fresh tomatoes in unlimited amounts in all phases. Tomato sauce is acceptable, too, but try to find a brand with no more than 3 grams of sugar, and the lower the sodium the better. The SBD Good Fats, Good Carbs Guide says tomato soup is ok, but be aware that many brands have high fruitose corn syrup and wheat flour in them, and are also very high in sodium.

Aloha,
Fell off the wagon, but hopped back on for phase 1! Two questions, I read in the "Good Eats" book that Slimfast shakes were ok, but there are so many kinds. Does anyone recommend one? Also, I found Chicken Chili in the grocery store, do you think it's safe?

camsmom, I can't help you with the Slimfast, I have no idea what's in it. Before you eat anything you have to check the ingredients to see if they fit in with the SBD lifestyle.
I think the chicken chili should be ok, but again, check the ingredients.

Hi! I am fixing to start Phase I after reading the book! I am getting my shopping list together and trying to fix all the tempting stuff in my pantry and frig before I start. My question is about the Southbeach frozen meals, breakfasts, and bars. Are these allowed on Phase II? I know they aren't on I but just checking for II.

Most of us don't use these products since they contain a lot of iffy ingredients and are very processed. Some of the frozen dinners taste pretty bad too, so they aren't worth the price. They do have info on the back of the box which Phase they are approved on.

The frozen pizzas are fairly good. I use them on Phase II for family pizza night.

I was craving a sweet treat so badly this morning. I picked up the SBD sugar free puddings, even though it's P2 and I don't start P2 until tomorrow.
I ate one, and all I can say is, "Ugh." Left a horrible aftertaste. I threw the rest away.
Maybe it's because I don't use artificial sweeteners or processed foods, I don't know.
I think that's the last time I try any SBD convenience food product. I'll stick with the diet itself, which is tasty and healthy. Just my .02

I do like the puddings, but I'm OK with the artificial sweeteners. I would rather have yogurt though, so I don't buy the puddings much.

When on phase 2, I enjoy the occasional SBD pizza, particularly the pepperoni one and cooked in the oven, not microwave. I'm sure if I made my own it would taste better.
I used to enjoy the SBD cereal bars, the peanut butter was my favorite. I noticed that they caused me stomach upset and stopped using them, the stomach problems cleared. I tried them again, the stomach problems returned. So, no more SBD cereal bars.
