I've had all my pets microchipped, and none of them even squawked when they got chipped. It is a larger needle, with the chip in it, but I think that baby "no name" (Daisy???Coco????) will be just fine.

I think the cute black and white pup now has a name..puzzles. Mitzi is just sleeping the day away. I guess she is tired from her trek. Now I'm just waiting for the AC repairman to come.

One of my cats was chipped at 3 months, the other at 2+ years. No pain,no reaction. It really is a good idea as collars can come off.

SO glad Mitzi was found.

how would the avg citizen know the animal is chipped if they aren't educated about it and seen? My dog was picked up and held by a lady in the neighborhood. She didn't call the humane society (where we filed a report).

I think the dogs wear a tag saying they are chipped but that doesnst do much good if their collars come off. I think if the SPCA picks them up they might just scan them anyway? I dunno...

Thank goodness she was found. My two goldens were microchipped and gave no indication of pain. The dogs are scanned by the humane society, so if someone turns your pet in the owner can be found.

Jennifer had both of her chihuahuas chipped and it was painful. The vet recommended doing one while she was already knocked out for dental work, but the other one was awake and it apparently was very painful. Jennifer cried. Perhaps it's more painful for smaller dogs? My Lola weighs an even 3 pounds and is elderly and frail. I decided not to chip her. But I did get her a tag after my son accidentally let her slip out the door once a few years ago. We made flyers and it was so extremely scary, not knowing where she was. Fortunately a stranger picked her up from the road and made the effort to look for her owners the next day. I was scared to read this thread in case the news was bad. Def, I am so glad you found your dog
