  • Right at 3 years ago my older brother brought us this malnourished, skinny, but very sweet lab/bulldog mix that had been abandoned at one of his job sites. Someone had called animal control the day before and my brother hid the dog b/c he was worried it would be put down. The deal was that we were going to keep her overnight while he tried to find a permanent home for her. Oh he laid it on thick. "She's a good dog...all she needs is a good home. She's homeless. She doesn't even have a name. Y'all need a good dog." *rolls eyes*

Fast forward 1 day...my mom's in love w/ her. Fast forward another day...I'm in love w/ her. 1 more day...her name is picked out. She was skiddish and followed us everywhere we went...so since she was acting like our Shadow and scared of her own Shadow, she became Shadow.

And now she is Shadow Princess Penelope. And she's so spoiled she has her own monogrammed blanket!!!

Her first day home w/ us.

    Ready for the GA game!!!

    Shadow loves her some Tyler!!!

Watching the marching band at the parade. She would sit down and watch intently every time a marching band came by.

Her personal monogrammed GA blanket. She doesn't like to sleep w/o it and will continue to walk up and down the hall and whine until we come tuck her in under her blanket.

  • So, so cute.
  • aw! she is so adorable.
  • That is a beautiful dog.
  • Thanks!!! She's my baby. Absolutely the sweetest and most loyal dog we've ever had.

OMG, I totally forgot to include the story!!! Just before Thanksgiving in 2008...I was at work and mom and Shadow were home alone. Shadow got out of bed and started whining and nudging my mom. Trying to calm her, my mom asked her what was wrong and told her it was okay. Next thing mom hears is a bunch of crashing. She called 911 (unfortunately my partner had just stepped out so I had to dispatch the call myself while trying to keep my heart from pounding out of my chest). My officers were on scene w/in 4 minutes. Someone had pried open the rear door using a shovel that was under the carport. They were actually IN the hallway and had turned the light on and were coming towards the bedroom mom and Shadow were asleep in. I don't even want to think what would've happened if Shadow hadn't woken mom up. She's our hero dog!!!

  • Too cute!
  • That's my sweet baby...and that's MY pillow and MY side of the bed she's on...LOL
  • OMG, I LOVE the pic of Shadow with her special blankie!!!! That is just sooo sweet!!!!
  • LOL, thanks. She thinks she's REAL special b/c Santa Claus brought it to her last year. We're going to Charleston this weekend and she gets to go w/ us, so her blankie will have to come along.

Oh...I forgot the picture of her boat ride!!! We took her to the lake about a month ago and she went out on the pontoon boat w/ us. I thought she'd be too scared to go but as soon as Rusty jumped right on she just followed him right on the boat.

  • Pets are awesome!
  • Shadow in her reindeer costume. I call her my reindog.

Me, mom, and Shadow in front of the Christmas tree.

  • Better picture of my reindog w/ my roommate, Jersey.

  • She looks so sweet! Give her a snuggle from me.
  • Shadow w/ her Georgia Bulldogs pillow that Santa Claus brought her.

  • She is adorable! How sweet. I would just like to thank you for taking a chance on a homeless doggy. For years my hubby and I have worked with an organization that works tirelessly to find good homes for stray and abandoned dogs.
We helped to find terrific homes for 23 dogs this past year. I have 8 dogs of my own. Yep, you read that right, 8 dogs. 6 of them were strays that were only supposed to be here temporarily, but found their way into our hearts. They are all spoiled and loved to death.
What a blessing animals are in our lives. Give Shadow Princess Penelope a big hug from me . I'm so glad she found you.
