Great Danes anyone?
 

I am a huge fan of Great Danes!! So much that 3 of our 7 dogs are Danes. All are rescued (all 7 of my dogs). They are big dogs with a big heart. We have had them since my daughter was 6 and not once have we had any problems!! I know they are about to become popular with the movie Marmaduke coming out. However, I urge you to tell everyone you know to research the breed before they buy one. They are very large dogs and most end up in shelters. My "puppy" is 6 mths old and weighs 90 lbs. He was surrendered to a shelter because he was to big :( Sorry for my first post in the section to be so preachy LOL

ETA..the whole point of my post was supposed to be to ask if anyone else had Danes LOL

Not preachy at all...in fact,I wish all potential dog owners researched the breeds they are interested in.I LOVE Great Danes,but we don't have enough room in our house,lol.It's doubtful that we'll ever have the room...at least according to my husband,so I can only admire them.

We have 2 boxers,and my husband thinks that they are big enough :lol:

I LOVE them too! This is going to sound super corny and slightly an immature reason but I once read this romantic novel and the husband who died left behind this puppy Great Dane. The wife of course kept him and fell in love with this dog. Since I read this book in my pre-teens I've always wanted one...I've done my research and everything now so perhaps one day when I have a house I will be able to convince the hubby to let me get one! lol

I had the opportunity to live with a family in Germany that had Great Danes. Totally fell in love with them. Like you said...big hearts! But I too don't have the room at my home for a large dog...I'm stuck with my kitties and kiddos for now. :)
