Default I'm in love with the German Shepherd breed

I knew I was a long time ago, since I was a child. No other breed made my heart skip a beat.
Now that I own my GS and I watch her walking in our land I can't help me smile, her walk is so graceful. When something gets her attention she has the perfect stance. We've had many dogs and I can't help but admire the way the GS runs, its so rhythmic.
I've always (still am) have been a cat lover but when it comes to dogs GS my first love when it comes to dog breeds. I have to admit I can't stand overly affectionate dogs where they're in your face constantly seeking your affection. I've had 3 dogs (my GS being one of them) that reminded me of the cat personality. They're more laid back and aren't so needy when it comes to affection. They're the ones that when I'm out relaxing on the grass they'll be sitting or laying next to you taking it all in. One was a GS mix, the other was my beloved Terrier/cocker mix who died a year ago from cancer. and now my Annie. When I go out to see her she will come up to me and wait for me to pet her. If I sit down she'll bring her head ever so gently under my arm so I can hug her. Then she'll lay next to me with one paw on my lap. When we go for a walk in our land she acts like we're a team, she never takes off on her own to do her own thing she's constantly by me. Unless we stop and she wants to explore something.
Since the death of my terrier, I couldn't bare the thought of loving another dog again. I actually wanted to get a cat instead. Annie has filled the void my terrier left behind. This morning while watching her explore the land, a sad thought came to mind....one day she will go too. My eyes teared up, all I could do is go out and hug her.

I completely agree with you. I understand now how easily it is to fall inlove with the breed. My husband has always loved GSDs and when it came time for us to find a dog I gave in and let him pick our Koa. I admit that I was a little worried about aggression issues (ignorance, I know), but he's grown into such a well behaved and gentle dog! The most awe inspiring moments are when he interacts with tiny dogs or babies.

The funny part is, my husband gets jealous of me because Koa is a bit of a Momma's boy! I have a feeling Koa won't be our last GSD.

Side Note: We watched Marley and Me and by the end of the movie my husband and I had used half a box of tissues and were forcing our love and affection on Koa. Lol. It was a site to see! But we absolutely know how blessed we are to have an amazing dog.

A lot of GS are actually very hyper and high strung. I still love them though
