anyone in washington or oregon state looking to adopt a cat?

  • My brother jsut loss his job he has 4 cats we need to find homes for fast he has to move into a more affordable place in November that does not accept pets. I have add's on petfinder.com on craigslist. and all the social websites like face book and myspace advertising for them! Please If you or some one you knwo lives in Washington state or even in Oregon We could deliver them! We dont' want to bring them to the humane society as they will be put to sleep in 48 hours if not adopted
  • Well, I'm in Virginia, so that won't work.

I also have 4 cats and cannot bear the thought of healthy pet cats being put to sleep. I hope you or someone you or your brother knows will at least cat sit until the animals can be placed with someone permanently. Our shelter is a no-kill shelter - please update us when you find a home... otherwise, I think I'm gonna worry about those kitties!
  • Maria, it looks like there is a no-kill shelter for kitties in Arlington.

Assuming he lives near where you live, that is quite a little drive but if he can't find homes for them, that might be an option for you.
  • I did a google search for 'no kill shelters washington state' and ran across this site:
    http://fluffynet.com/no-kill-shelter...kill-shelters/

You could also search for no kill shelters near the city where he lives.

Beyond no kill shelters, you can also look for general rescues/cat rescues in the area.

If they happen to be a special breed of cat (siamese or siamese mix or other breed), you can also look for rescues specific to the breed.
  • Were the cats adopted? I understand reluctance to give animals to shelters, considering about 1/3 of all animals who go in are euthanized yearly, this is sad considering that there is more than enough animals to meet the demand for new pets waiting to be adopted.

The marketing company I work for recently embarked on a campaign to change the image of the shelter animal for the better. we're doing this in conjunction with The Humane Society, the Ad Council and Maddie's Fund.

Check out the interactive website. Just do a search for Pet Personals. There are some great pet adoption resources, and also some neat things like personals to spread the word about this project.
