So about a week ago I found out I was pregnant. I'm excited, and obviously concerned about weight, but not to the point of causing myself panic attacks. I've lost about 15 pounds and have been maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and plan to continue for... well the rest of my life. The doc put me at about 5 weeks , and my first appointment is in the first week of January.
I plan on buying an at-home blood pressure monitor (BP has been fine so far), and following a gestational diabetes diet (just in case). I'll go in if I sense anything is amiss, or if I am not feeling well, but I guess I'm just wondering if there are any huge reasons I need to go to the doctor prior to 12 weeks. I know a lot of it is testing and counseling on diet and lifestyle, but my insurance wont even start kicking in for maternity until the deductible has been met (and with my original doc appointment in mid-early December, I figured I may as well save $1,500 and wait until the new year before going, otherwise I'd end up paying my deductible and then have to restart in two weeks - which when you're planning on having a baby in the same year, the bills add up quick and we're trying to plan for the more costly part of having a baby...
Anyway, so far things have been going well, and I'm excited to go to the doctor and wish I could go earlier, but insurance is a stink.
