So annoyed that people don't realize I'm pregnant.

I was with my three kids last week and walking and a woman asked when my next was due. My baby is four months and I was feeling pretty good about myself!
Most people don't ask me when I'm pregnant, until the third tri. I think a lot of it is in what I was wearing. Some shirts made it very obvious, while other things didn't make it as obvious.

Hugs! I personally will not ask (even a very thin/small framed woman) about her pregnancy unless I am absolutely positive. A few years back I ASSumed that a stranger was pregnant and was wrong. Mortified can't even describe how I felt.

I just wanted to give y'all an update on this.
The biggest comment I've received since giving birth (2 weeks ago) is that I don't even look like I was pregnant. I'm definitely heavier than I was before I got pregnant but my body shape is exactly what it was before. And I feel like it's my body again. Sooooo I guess the moral of the story is that there's a silver lining.

It bugged me when my mom said I was "small" when I was full-term! It bothered me I never got "huge" like other women, waddling around and such.

It has to be your height. They did a second ultrasound later in the pregnancy for me because I wasn't measuring right. He was fine, and it was just because of my longer torso. I didn't look very pregnant (just fat) until right at the end. People never asked me, either, so I definitely understand. Try not to dwell on it-- just think-- the short ladies look miserable with those huge bellies out-to-there!!

[quote=junebug41;3890237]I did that to an acquaintance once and I felt awful. She was 7 mo with twins and I didn't even realize. It was bad lighting when I saw her and she was wearing black. Also, she has a big frame and is very tall so the babies had plenty of room, but I felt so embarrassed! I'm 140lbs so I thought I would have this cute belly, but not so far. I have loose skin anyway so I have this "b" shaped tummy and it just looks... misshapen. No cute little beginnings of a bump on this girl. Plus I have wide hips and right now the baby has plenty of room.
I have the "B" shape also. I have lost over 100 pounds so i have lots of loose skin so i think that hides it. Also people are used to seeing me so much heavier i think they assume i just gained some of it back. I had my first person ask if i was (and i'm 28 weeks.)

I had to check back in on this thread because I am 31 weeks and finally, yesterday, at the 7-11, the clerk asked me when I was due!! I wanted to kiss him!!
The B is almost gone so with a belly band and a maternity shirt I do look pregnant now. Part of it is also the baby's position. He is firmly transverse right now and still way down in my pelvis so I still look rather small. Flip baby, flip!

Ugh, that's gotta be hard. Not sure if this will make you feel any better, but I had a woman say to me, "OH! You're pregnant!" 8 months after I had my son. So it goes both way... people make assumptions that can be really hurtful! So sorry you're having to deal with that on top of all the other emotions that come with being pregnant.

I could have written the OP too (sorry, a little long after the fact, but just wanted to add my 2cents on this topic)!
I am almost 6'1", with a long torso. I was about 240 pounds for my first pregnancy. The first person that asked me when the baby was due was when I was 1 day away from my due date. My belly had a nice round shape, but since I'm a pear shaped person, I think I finally just looked proportionately heavy (around 275 pounds at birth). Also, my son weighed 7 pounds, so not huge, so my belly never got really big. I also have wide hips, so those things all together made for a small belly size. My belly button never popped out, I never got stretch marks, and I was also back to my prepreg pants within a week of giving birth. The belly just vanished after the birth.. so there IS an upside to all this!
