I moved last December and have had a lot of depression and gained 30 pounds. I'm working on getting back on track and losing what I've gained, plus the rest. haha

Are there any others here who are doing extended nursing? I was wondering what other people are eating calorie wise when extended nursing/weaning while trying to lose weight.
DS is almost 13 months and I'm still nursing. I plan on nursing, at least, two years. Probably longer. I'm very relaxed about the whole thing. I do plan on introducing cows milk soon though. Mommy needs a break occasionally and pumping sucks!

I eat in the 1800-2000 calorie range and try to go for walks 3-5 times a week. I've been losing 1-2 lbs a week.

I did notice that no weight came off when DS was sick with the stomach flu. All he did was nurse when not sleeping. So, I think my body stopped losing due to the increased demand. I was hoping for the opposite. Oh well. I didn't eat well that week (as in, not enough.)

It's frustrating that the weight comes off so slowly. I know it's best this way, but I'd really like to fit in some of my Pre-pregnancy clothes.

My youngest is now 29 months old and still nursing - twice a day (nap and bedtime). I am also doing `don`t offer don`t refuse`, but he wants it those two times and doesn`t seem to be wanting to wean in the slightest!

I started about a month ago and have been doing calorie counting plus 30 mins of exercise about 5 times a week. I am aiming for 1500 cals a day, and with that (plus the 100 ish I often go over) I lose 1-2 a week, now that the big first week is over. It`s a little frustrating as I really feel like it`s a lot of effort for not much progress, but I know that`s how my body works when nursing. When each of my other 2 weaned themselves (around 18 months) I immediatley lost 7 or 8 pounds, without even trying.. and felt my metabolism kick up a notch as well.

Oh well, he`s my last little one, so I`m not going to wish it away..

I`ll have to be the little engine that could!

Hey yall back on here! Nursing for a year is my goal, I'm hoping when i go back to work i dun loose my supply like what happened with my dd. But you ladies nursing past a year that's awesome! I'm hoping to strive like yall are doing.

Any tips on keeping ur supply up? I mean i pump like 3-5 oz on one side if i let it fill up is that good?

Also how often do yall think I should feed my ds he is 2 months and 2 weeks old, i forgot since my dd was nursing.

Congratulations on your baby - I bet he's so cute!

As for supply, all I can suggest is feed often and drink lots of water. That's all it took for me.

As far as how often, I always did demand feeding. So whenever baby cries, or puts his hands to his mouth, or is fussy... offer. Should be at least every 3-4 hours... the baby is usually pretty darned good at telling mom when he wants a little top-up!
