When i was at my heaviest, 305 pounds and not on birth control pills i was not ovulating AND was TTC...very frustrating. My periods were 80 days apart with no ovulation. I lost down to 280 pounds and my periods regulated and next thing i know i was pregnant. So i do think weight loss and birth control both helped me. I am on birth control pills and now and everything is regular. My doc was going to put me on Clomid so i would ovulate...i got the prescription filled and never took it because i found out i was pregnant. But maybe clomid could be an idea for some of you ttc.

now that Im perimenopausal, Im every 28 days like clock work. First time in my life! (without meds)

...but before this, yes! Once I started loosing the weight, I dont remember at what point....but I started ovulating a little more regularly than I had been. I was actually ovulating, and not having "false" periods, due to the excess estrogen from all the extra fat.

I have PCOS and was diagnosed about 10 years ago. I'm on 1500mg of Metformin per day and working to lose about 150 pounds total. I started at 303.5. . . now I'm down to 292.5 after 3 weeks.

I've got PCOS and I'm hypothyroid as well - double bummer

I have 77lbs to get to my realistic goal of 150lbs, although at 5'1" I could loose another 20lbs or more. LOL, but at 36 and after 3 kids I will be more than happy at 150lbs (I hope).

I was diagnosed with PCOS in my early 20's but have only just found a Dr a month or so ago who would prescribe Metformin. Unlike others, Metformin has not been the miracle weight loss cure for me, I am still doing it the HARD way with lots of exercise and a high protein/low GI carb diet.

I found out I had PCOS about 4 years ago when I had problems getting pregnant. Really was never treated for it was just told to lose weight and getting pregnant would be easier. I did get Pg using clomid gained more weight after a misscarriage ....the clomid stopped working for me once I gained more weight. My plan of action is to lose 30 pounds go back and try the clomid again. I have mainly been doing WW and low carbing when I know I've over done the sugar.

I'm new to this board but I have PCOS also. I am almost 24 and was just diagnosed a few weeks ago although I've known I had to for a few months. I am on metformin 1000 mg/day but everything I've read says it should be at 1500mg/day so I'm going to ask my endo when I go back in December. I have about 90 pounds left to lose. Although, just to get under 200 would be awesome!

I have PCOS with insulin resistance- I was diagnosed last summer after TTC#2 and once again having problems. After going on Avandia my cycles became regular and I was able to conceive.

I have about 25 pounds to lose. Ideally, I'd like to lose about forty, but 25 would put me in the middle of my weight range & is probably much more realistic, since I haven't weighed that lower weight since high school. I'm really more concerned about my health than my weight # at this point... during both pregnancies I had gestational diabetes, and I really do not want my IR to go into full-blown diabetes if I can help it.

Hi Candlemaker!

Met is for insulin resistance but it can in some women provide assistance with weightloss. (with healthy eating and exercise of course). I was on it, well a "form" of it, actually I think I was on two kinds of it and they both made me really sick so I couldn't take those but now I'm on Fortamet, which is another form of it, but different and it doesn't make me sick at all. Foramet is also supposed to have a side effect of Ovulation. (in some women at least)

My dr wanted me to lose 30% of my weight, but didn't harp on my weight that much.

I have been on Metformin for the last 9 months, I can't tell that it helped or hindered my Wt. loss in any way.
