When did the weight start coming off for you?
I was wondering what kind of exercise everyone was doing and when you started noticing the weight coming off. I've been at this for a few weeks now, doing moderate exercise (walking for 30 minutes, JM's 30 Day Shred, or JM's Yoga Meltdown) 2-3 times a week and I haven't noticed anything except an improvement in my posture.
What works for you? And how long did it take for you to notice a difference?

For me, I didn't lose weight until I got my hormones in check with BC pills, started cutting the junk out of my diet and did heavy weight lifting. If you are only relying on exercise to lose weight, you may be out of luck. What is your eating plan like?

I need all my meds right, the food log right, and then I need at least 45 min hard cardio 4x a week and weights 3x a week.
So far, weight loss is sloooooooowwwww. It's been mainly getting the meds and food log right, and ANY exercise at all for my first PALA. I know I have a lot of room for improvement. But I also can't jump to the fitness level I once was at. I have to build up to that.
One my 2nd PALA, I'm adding the weight training next.

As far as meds go, I'm just on the Pill. Diet wise I'm trying to limit my carb intake, and restrict my calorie intake as well.

I was only cutting my calories..I noticed it right away.....I have noticed a plateau atm after the first 19 lbs or so came off so I am changing it, working out more....I am gonna try to reduce my carbs from now on. We will see how it goes hopefully *crosses her fingers* it will break my plateau.

Weight comes off slooooow. I changed my diet and I was able to take off 10 lbs with just diet.
Then I had to add exercise.
Now, I'm doing 7-9 hours of exercise every week!

You know, the alcohol thing was true for me.
I used to drink a lot of wine, I love wine and my friends drink wine. I thought I could keep it in my calories budget, but it turned out that even when I was able to include it and not go over my budget, I wasn't losing weight. When I stopped drinking, the weight loss was better....
Someone told me that the wine lowers blood sugar levels, which for us that are IR, can trigger food cravings, which starts the vicious cycle.

I wish I had the time that all of you had to devote to exercise. I try and sneak 30 minutes on the treadmill in when I'm able, I'll have to get creative and figure out what else I can do. It's not easy when you go to school full time (with a double major) and work 2 jobs. I'm almost never home or anywhere where I can easily exercise.

I added exercise in when I changed my diet. I noticed inches lost in the first few weeks but I had (and still have) a whole lot to lose. it has slowed down now to an average of 1 lb. a week and some weeks it's nothing and other it's the 'whoosh' I have seen others post about.

Overall the weight loss is very slow with ladies suffering from pcos.
I personally have to keep mixing things up otherwise my body gets used to a certain way of eating/exercise and then starts optimizing its calorie burning causing less weight to come off. I've been stuck for a while at 213lbs and changed my diet a bit so I'm down 0.5lbs this week.
Good luck finding what works for you

I am supposed to be on birth control to regulate my period, but I have not been on it for a few months because I was having issues with insurance. I have been losing weight fine with nothing, but I was diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago. My periods were a little painful off the birth control, but they seemed to come and last at a normal time.
I exercise as often as I can which means some days only 30 minutes of cardio and some days as much as an 1 hour of cardio and 30 minutes of weights.

I have kind of a different story ... I modified my diet to limit carbs somewhat, but I have to say that the weight just started melting off as soon as I got on Metformin. It wasn't a rapid loss (2 lbs./week on average), but I've steadily worked off more than 30 lbs.! I am now working on changing my exercise routine to push past a plateau that I'm stuck on ... but we'll get there! I think it just depends on getting the right combination of medication, which I must have had at the start. I'm very lucky.

I eat fairly low-carb, and I too tried to keep alcohol in the mix. But it almost completely stalls me, and I usually can't stop with just one glass. Even two will make me begin to eat just about anything that's not nailed down. After last time, and a whole sleeve of Thin Mint cookies (when I hadn't even wanted any cookies in months!), I've just plain given up on alcohol.
That being said, the weight for me began coming off (sloooowly) when I cut out sugars and cut back on starches. It really makes a difference for me.
