Rana -
It's so good to hear that you busted through a plateau. I've been stuck around the same weight for about 6 weeks, and I'm getting a little frustrated. My body's still changing size bc of heavier exercise, but I'd like to see the pounds decreasing as well! How did you spark the loss again?

Consistency and treating my PCOS. I was on a plateau for a long time because I was eating the right amount of calories and exercising, but I wasn't treating my IR.
I started treating my IR (I started taking chromium) and then I lowered my calories. Both things helped.
The other thing that I tell myself is that this isn't about the weight loss, it's about the health. As long as I am healthy, not gaining weight, and feeling better, then the weight will eventually come off.
Unless you're not treating the PCOS. Then all bets are off.
I also dropped down another 5 lbs this year because I went lower carb. Now, when I eat higher carb days, I gain tons of water weight. My carbs are now 30%-35% of my total calorie intake.

I have found that I'm a lot more swollen-up when I eat more carbs, also! Since going vegetarian recently, I've been hitting the carbs more, so I need to work on that. Thanks so much for the recommendations. I know it's not all about the weight, but the scale was moving so steadily there for a while, and now it's just stuck! I'll try to work toward 30-35%, because mine has been more than 50% lately.

Getting back on track has been hard. I want to see immediate results again!
When I'm on plan, keeping track faithfully, I don't get impatient. I get a sense of satisfaction just from keeping track and checking off that I've done well that day..... when I'm getting back on plan, it's like I forget that patience and I just want everything to work NOW!!!!
I also have an appointment with the gyno this afternoon. We'll see what he said. Last year, he gave me a prescription for progesterone to activate my period, because he didn't think I would be able to have my own periods without help. I never had to fill it out because diet/exercise kept me pretty regular.
I'm not worried about the appointment, but I am worried that I will wait for hours in the waiting room!!!
I wish I had already reached goal weight. It would have been nice to show him that.

drummergrrrl: Newbie vegetarians seem to be "grain-atarians" or "cheese-atarians" until they manage to build up their recipe collection. Keep at it and go for the produce!
I enjoyed my time as a veg and one day I'll go back there.
Rana -- GL with doc!
Me:
I'm slow, and worn out from the flu/cold thing I was fighting. Now I'm just trying to restore order in the household.
Will check back in later. Hope everyone's having a good day!
A.

Gyno was happy with the weight loss. From last time last year, I was down 13 lbs. Woohoo!!!!!
He obviously wants me to lose more weight, but again... so bizarre, he said 10% of my weight last year.
What I don't understand is why these docs just want me at 160ish?
That's not even out of the overweight category for BMI?

Rana - That seems weird about the weight goals. Maybe it's just a good, round number that they can throw at you to be safe (i.e., 10% is just a standard recommendation). Sounds like things went well, good for you.
Astrophe - guilty as charged on the grain/cheese-atarian ... thankfully I found some good blogs with a solid set of recipes. Thanks for the encouragement.
I finally got the scale to move!!! Seems like it happens when you're not trying.

hi luvnmycstie . I hope that diet and exercise help to bring you another baby also.
HeaterAS- Hi carb cutting is tough I know what you mean.
astrophe- sorry that you're still sick. Good luck getting order back in the house.
Rana- Glad that your Dr.'s visit went well and they were pleased. You're doing awesome and will be at goal soon.
drummer- Yay on the scale moving that's good news.
ems- That's crazy and doesn't sound like they know what they're doing.
Things are going alright here. I'm getting nervous about my endocrinologist appointment that's coming up in a couple of months (I know it's a few weeks off but I am a worrier) but it will be good to go and see what they say I suppose.

Sunday night and tomorrow is Monday. So even though it is a bit early, why don't we start shuffling over to the March Support thread?

Haven't been here in a long while but Im still at it! Just found out last week when I went to the gym that I am down 12 pounds! YAY ME!
I have cut my calories way back with basically a no sugar high protein diet and I also began taking the Insulite PCOS system. It seems to be helping soooo much. My energy level has sky rocketed and my tummy has flattened out so much already Loving feeling so good. I even got checked out by some guy this morning so that was a self esteem boost LOL
