KERRI Congrats on the loss so far, that's a great start - so glad you received everything as ordered.

SAMMYANN Welcome to this forum - it's great that you've joined us. I'm doing Low Carb, too and are just getting L & D as well. I figured I could do breakfast for less money than getting it from DTG (plus their BF's were a lot to eat). I've been doing my own breakfast burritos or pitas - I get LC tortillas (60 calories, 3 net carbs) or LC Pita bread (cut in half 30 calories, 2 net carbs) and fill them with scrambled eggs (maybe with a little cheese, peppers, etc.) and either some ham, bacon or sausage (usually the turkey kind) - it's easy, quick and I can do it in the microwave. Check out the site Kerri suggested too for additional ideas. Also try the Hungry Girl website for what they call Egg-Mug recipes - some of them are low carb and you can use regular eggs instead of EggBeaters if you want - it'll give you inspiration to make up your own versions. Again, glad to have you here!

Take care, everyone!

Hi all you Diet to Go folks! I've been lurking and reading, thought I might introduce myself ) I just started the Low Carb, 5 days, L/D (ordered breakfast the first week, but decided to switch to L/D starting this week) - trying to get in the swing of things and learn all I can about this program. Good to know I've got some fellow traveler's on this journey )

Hi, all--I didn't get washed away by our series of storms, but our internet was out for several days, so am catching up with everything.

Congrats, Kerri on your weight loss! And thanks again for the good work on your blog. I wish I had one of those brownies right now!

jmohr--Thanks for the suggestions on subbing out the meals even on the 5 day plan. I was on another meal delivery program, but the 5 day plan was days 1-5 always, with no subs. I was always wanting something on one of the other days.

Hi, Sammyann! Cooking for other people when I am dieting is always very tough. When I first started a meal delivery program, I made my husband follow it too, because I didn't want to deal with cooking a separate meal. Now I've decided it's not his meal that's the problem, it was deciding what I should, could eat. DTG takes care of that, so I will just cook something simple for him or something I don't really like, so I'm not tempted to eat it. I'm still only cooking one meal, because mine is already done. I do usually cook extra vegetables, anyway. I like them and we get a CSA box of produce every week.
Once a week, on Fri. nites, all the kids, spouses, and grandkids come over for dinner. On those nights, I will either have them cook or I will use a recipe from a "biggest loser" cookbook or a weight watchers recipe. That's the plan anyway! That what I did this Fri.; they all had their meal and I had one of my DTG meals left from before.

Good night, everyone...

My biggest question after seeing and eating the food, and looking at the nutritional info is...where are those high fat grams coming from? Example - The Beef Short Ribs in Creamy Mushroom Sauce shows 609 calories and 53 grams of fat! The short ribs (which had an awesome flavor and texture!) weighed 2 oz! It was accompanied by a few bites of veggies (asparagus or broccoli...i can't remember)...I've been logging food into SparkPeople(dot)com for a loooong time, and the figures just seem a bit off. I'd really like some info on the fat nutrition info, as it seems 2 ounces of beef and 1/4 cup of sauce (unless maybe it's pure lard?) could not have that much fat. Same question for the Prime Rib w/Red Wine Sauce. Looking at the ingredients, I see more sugar (in the sauce) than I do things that would equal 45 grams of fat. I've posted this to the forum on Diet to Go's website also, if i get an answer over there (and if anyone else is interested!) I'll share the info I get.

TerriP64--it will be very interesting if DTG responses to your question about the seemly high fat (and sodium) content of the meals. As far as I can tell, they don't seem to answer questions like that on the website. I wonder if they would in a phone call?? I am getting ready to sign up again, this time for the low-fat plan. I think I'll ask about that.

Had the Roasted Half Chicken with Cauliflower Puree tonight...awesome! Tasted as good as any rotisserie chicken I have ever had....and the cauliflower puree was great, too. I added a cup of broccoli tonight, too...
Had a very good day on Diet to go low carb! How's everyone else doing?

hi everyone! this is Rachel from Diet-to-Go and I just found this forum and think it's FANTASTIC! What a great way for everyone to stick together and support each other through the weight loss process. Since I saw some question thought I'd pop in and try to answer some. Please ask away and I'll keep checking in to see if I can make your DTG experience the best possible!

Brownies- yes they are sooo yummy! We bake them here and believe me, on brownie days all the people in the office are hunting them down in the kitchen They only come with the Grilled Cheese that's on the menu (not the grilled cheese substitution meal) but can also be ordered in sets of 3 at a time from the snack menu any time.

Fat-I think with that beef short ribs meal it's a combination of the cream sauce and the beef itself that gets it that high. I will have our dietitian take a look at that just to verify, but I'm pretty sure it's accurate.

Thanks for the questions and keep 'em coming! I'll definitely keep up with your forum and help in any way I can. Best of luck to everyone!!! Oh, and I just lost 20 pounds this year (the last of my 2nd baby weight) using our product....it feels great, and I can also definitely relate to everyone on here. I did it on the 1200 calorie traditional low-fat plan- and you can too! Keep up the good work!

Rachel

ninarachel--I'm so glad you'll be checking in! I'm definitely ordering some of those brownies, too!

TerriP64--I agree about the chicken and the cauliflower. I could eat a whole bowl full of the cauliflower puree. I also love the baby brussel sprouts in some of the meals. Actually, the vegetables have been some of my favorite items in the low-carb meals. I hope the veggies on the low-fat plan are as good.

I was also thinking: the questions about the apparently high fat content in some of the low-carb meals probably point out the real danger in eating already prepared foods (restaurant and fast foods, esp.). You don't really know how much fat, etc., is in there unless you cook it yourself or have access to the nutrional info. There are some restaurants I don't go to anymore because all their food is so high in fat, sodium, and calories. And of course, not all info is available for all restaurants. At least, if we have the info, we can make informed choices.

Hello from sunny California--

We just had a wicked series of el nino storms. Week long power outages, etc. I unpacked my first week's worth of food...and goodbye electricity. I lost my entire first shipment of DTG (along with everything else in the freezer/refrigerator). I called the DTG people to place my next order, and the person on the phone was incredibly kind and volunteered to credit me for the lost week of food.

Having seen the lo-cal food, I decided to try the lo-carb instead. I ordered the 5 day b/l/d plan, and just made substitutions to deal with the "no beef, no pork issue".

I had two meals so far, and they are surprisingly good. I am very clear after those two meals that I have a "portion issue" since they were a little on the small size of what I usually prepare for myself.

On the bright side, I lost 3 pounds without even starting the dtg food. I think day after day of snow shoveling might have had something to do with it.

Hi everyone--after not dieting for years I've taken the plunge in an effort to get in better shape. A little less than a week ago I signed up with Diet To Go for the low-carb plan and at this point have lost 7.5 pounds! I'm very excited. I know the weight's not going to come off this fast for very long, but I'm happy to get a good start.

So sorry about the bad weather and the power outage - it is such a pain especially when it's over a week or so - I'm way too familiar with that after Katrina and other recent storms.

I'm happy to hear that customer service took good care of you but I'm not surprised - they really do go out of their way to be accomodating.

Glad to hear that you were able to work out the substitutions for the LC plan - the food is good and it really does put portions into perspective - I know now what is the right amount so that when I go back to preparing my own meals I can easily use those guidelines.

Can't wait to hear how your first few weeks go - I'm sure you'll see some great results!

~Lee
