Raspberrys..... My favorite
All I could think about while reading your note was the raspberry ice cream I make in my food processor..... the BEST...
frozen raspberries.., milk, cream or soy milk and package of sugar free vanilla pudding... pluck them into a strong food processor and in less than 30 seconds the Best Raspberry Ice Cream EVER>>>>
I've done it with frozen peaches, cherries, blackberries or any kind of fruit that you can freeze. It is obviously the best with cream but I have done it with soy and was just fine.
Kathy now you have me thinking I may have to get some frozen berries and use my favorite Almond Breeze milk and make just ONE BOWL.
Now my mouth is watering for a nice bowl.. yikes

breakfast options.
well I am well into my ( nearly complete) 2nd week on Bistro MD. I love 90% of the program , what is getting difficult for me is the breakfast menu. it just isn't cutting it for me. I sent a email to the BM Dietitian and asked for some suggestions or options.
I thought I would share in case this is a problem or it becomes a problem for you:
Adding in the high protein oatmeal or the eggbeater + 1/4 cup of oatmeal to the lower protein/calorie breakfasts (dough nuts, coffee cake, cinnamon roll). I probably would not add fruit to that however, There are carbs in the breakfasts we send, and then you'll have carbs in the oatmeal so adding in the fruit would increase those carbs even more.
I would also suggest adding in a 3rd protein snack to your day. One option is to Save those lower protein/lower calorie breakfast to use as the 3rd protein snack of your day. If you did that you could sub out the whole meal for your own eggbeater breakfast w turkey sausages and low cal bread.
Unfortunately I don't believe we would just be able to send you lunches, dinners, and snacks so that you would be able to do the breakfast on your own. . You can either order extra snacks from us or I can give you idea's of what to do on your own
So I think I am going to do as she suggested..save the breakfast as a 3rd protein and make my own egg breakfasts.
I 'll let you know how it works.

Hey everyone! I don't want you guys to think I have disappeared. My work is picking up....just when I let my babysitter go...and my youngest has decided that she no longer wants to nap. So, if I am in front of a computer, I'm typing away!!!
I was down 2 pounds this week. Of course, my freeforall at the Georgia game...made me come up a pound. I haven't weighed today...but, I hope it is gone.
My nutrition stuff came in...I've got to check it out, I just wanted to say hi first!

You didn't derail yourself. Have some cocoa and watch something good on TV.

a little confused
Well I am into day 12 and did an early weight in... with consuming 1000 to 1100 calories per day. I have only dropped 1 lb........ that seems contrary to conventional wisdom of reducing 500 cal a day = 1 lb.... weightloss... with this low of calorie intact and NO CHEATING...I seem to be off my mark. my Basal Metabolic Rate says that I need at least 2300 cal per day for just normal body function...
Any veterans have words of wisdom ?????
I am disappointed and I can't imagine that 1 more day is going to make any significant difference.
What am I NOT doing ????????

Renita, IMO, watching your weight loss is kinda like watching your retirement fund...you can't judge it's performance by what happens in a specific single week (good or bad)... you need to look at the big picture. Don't forget, you had a HUGE weight loss your first week (6lbs if I remember correctly) so if you lose 1 lb this week, that's 7 lbs in 2 weeks, which, as we both know, is a GREAT weight loss for someone who's already been dieting (i.e. not the big upfront water weight drop). Personally, I'd be thrilled with those results. Also, I've dropped (and gained) 2lbs in a single day for no apparent reason. So I think you're doing fantastic!

Renita, remember last week! You were rocking the weight. This week, perhaps you're retaining water...or something.

Thanks Guys.....
I guess what upset me today was a old friend came by and wanted to go out for lunch. When I told her I was dieting and would rather not go to a spaghetti places, she said Oh your dieting... ' how long till you can see a difference ?'
Well after struggling along all these months, and spending lots of bucks...... and after nearly 50 lbs lost that is what others think( and let me say she is a really nice gal not a sniper or anything) ....... it just hit me in the gut.
I went back and reviewed all my eating patterns for months and months and on only 3 occasion in 7 months have I gone over 2400 in one day and that was only to 2700 calories. Now really.... I should be dropping pounds all over the place.
I am upset with myself and this weight stuff.. I have been at it for 7 months... and I don't think I have had enough to show for all the work that has been done..... I am really focused and the weight just needs to be pried off rather than worn off.....I am feeling sorry for myself today Hopefully tomorrow will feel better.

Ok tell me something. They send you EVERYTHING you are supposed to eat on this plan right? It is not like JC or NS where you add in veggies, fruits, dairy, ect?
Ok so if they DO send you everything do you ever get sick of cooked food and crave something fresh and raw like fruit or salad? Can you have those things? When ever life/budget has dictated that I eat only cooked foods I start to crave raw foods intensely.
I ask this because the food on this plan looks so good and I would like to give it a try when I have the money but I am not sure if I would just be better off with JC where I get extra fresh things to eat.

Renita, you are doing great! 46 pounds is a huge accomplishment, and it sounds like you have also really changed your outlook, habits, etc. too - so that's a lot more than "just" a weight loss!!!
I'm really sorry about your friend's comments. That must have hurt a lot. I don't believe that all that weight loss isn't apparent to people. Maybe this person isn't very observant!
You hang in there! You can do this!

amanda here is my take on the plan
Yes.. they send everything.. things you can have is fresh milk and veggie juices, coffee and soda. You really don't' need to add anything unless you want something extra. The plan calls for one evening meal off of the plan weekly, anyway.
The calories are so low that if you added in some fresh salad or fruit it would not really do that much to run off the rail, if that is a problem for you.
What I am doing is using the 5 day plan, and at the suggestion of some of the other gals on here, stretch it to cover 7 days. The lunches are good enough to use as dinner meals. So what I have done is made a salad with chicken tenders for lunch and fresh food as a snack. I used a homemade beef veggie soup with salad for another lunch.
Also you have direct access to a nutritionist that will modify the program for your personal issues.
I don't' care for sweet breakfasts so what I have done, at the direction of the dietitian was use a high protein oatmeal with blueberries or eggbeater with turkey sausage. Then I am using the breakfast items they send.i.e chocolate cream filled donuts, oat bran muffin, chocolate chip muffin(SUPER SIZED) etc for a snack later in the day....This seems to work great for me.
They send great mid day snacks that are really filling and a great High Protein Hot Chocolate. What I am doing with that is adding it to a cup of coffee.....WONDERFUL FLAVOR.... and again very nice as a evening snack ( I use decaf coffee in the evening)
This is the 4th meal delivery program I have tried and by far the best food of all of them.
Hope that helps, I am new on Bistro but NOT to meal delivery. If you have more questions just ask. I will be glad to answer what I know so far.
Renita
ps I may move to the no snack plan as well later, as I do miss the fresh fruit and have found out where to purchase some of the snacks seperately.

That's why I stopped getting the snacks on the plan myself. Now instead of soy puffs and chips, I'm usually having fruit. They encourage you to have a night or two off plan every week too.
