Well this is day three for me. So far it hasn't been unmanageable. I mean late afternoons are bad, but they've always been bad for me. I try to use my free foods for that just need to have something feeling. Bouillon has become my best friend, LOL. I cheated a lil yesterday, I had one of those 100 cal icecream sandwhiches. I cleaned out my freezer and I just could not throw it away. Otherwise I have been pretty much sticking with the plan. I don't like anytime bars, but they do give me a full sensation mid morning, so I guess I'll tough them out. I guess I'll ask my consultant next time, but how do you incorporate real eating into this plan? The meals are good and they're showing me portion sizes, but, the July 4th is around the corner. How am I to deal with cookouts?

jusalilbabefat and JazzyNurse - welcome
jusalilbabefat - A consultant I had suggested saving the container from a Jenny meal and using that when you are eating regular food. She said this will give you an idea of how much to eat of the food you cook and in time you will be able to eye it and know how much to have. Of course I wish I would follow this advice, but as you know it is very hard. I think portion size is probably the most important thing to remember. I think the 4th of July will be difficult for all of us at least I know it will for me.

I spoke to my consultant about the Fourth of July. She gave me some tips, such as, get in a lil extra exercise before and after the Fourth. Of course she stressed portion control, and healthy options like grilled chicken. So I'm am going to try these and hopefully I won't blow all the hard work I've put in so far. I'm trying to get more exercise into my week now. We shall see. On Thursday I had a two pound weight loss. I couldn't believe it, I was so happy to see that. I go back this Thursday, I'm aiming for a 1 pound weight loss this time.

jusalilbabefat - congrats on your loss, it sounds like you are doing great. I have been having some rough days but trying to stick with this as much as I can. I have been exercising more than ever before and I am hoping I will see some results soon.

This is my TOM and I have totally not been sticking with it. It cost too much not to commit to the diet but I feel like I could just eat a house right now. Any tips ladies? How do you deal with TOM cravings?

Just started this week...some questions/concerns
Hi,
I just started JC this week. I'm on day 3 and have loved the food so far! I'm on the 1500 cal/day plan (which seems like alot of calories for my weight 158, but I do exercise intensely for 60 mins 5 times a week). I have been eating alot of free foods and even made some "Free Veggie Soup" with v8 juice, cabbage, gr. beans, carrots, onions, chicken broth, and spices. I've been muching on carrots, celery, cucumbers, and other freebies. I've also been eating every 3-4 hours; however, I really seem to be hungry alot! This seems crazy to me because I'm doing everything listed above. Is this normal for the first week or so?
Also, I'm really nervous about weaning off JC foods and eating out. Is this something my JCC will go over with me? I guess my biggest fear is maintaining the weight I'm going to lose. What is everyone else's experience with maintenance and designing your own meals/plan?

The food IS good, isn't it?
My DIL went into labor on Monday, so I quickly packed up my stuff for the 3 hour drive to Portland. My food delivery was just 2 days away, so I didn't have much shelf-stable food to take with me.
I ended up spending 2 days at the hospital with her as she had a rough delivery and needed someone there to help at all times.
One morning I had Jenny's Cheese Ravioli for breakfast.
The rest of the time I ate at the hospital cafeteria. I stuck to salads for lunch and salad and salmon for dinner. I did a lot of walking because it was so far from the parking structure through the hospital to the elevators, then all the way to the end of the hall. Over a mile. Then you add in baby walking and rocking. Fun exercise!
I lost 2.5 lbs this week, even with the regular fat salad dressings.

Bannod -- way to go with sticking with the plan and congratulations on the baby.
streudel -- I think it takes some time to adjust to the portion sizes which is why you are probably feeling hungry. All in all it sounds like you are doing great.
I am down .8 this week so I'm hanging in.

To JC or not to JC...that is the question!
Hi Ladies...I am thinking of joining JC tomorrow and wanted to see if anyone had anything to share, one way or the other. I have about 45 pounds to lose and am hoping to lose about 2lbs a week. I have heard a variety of stories from people and read some of the threads...it seems that people who stick rigidly to the JC plan (with no cheats) lose on average .6 to 1 lb a week. I couldn't tell if they were exercising or not so I don't know if that has any impact. Then I hear of the people who are "cheating" occasionally during the week and they are losing more weight. I wonder if this is because the calorie allotment on JC is too low?? Are there options for when you sign up? I recently did a calorie calculation that said to lose 1.5lbs a week, I should consume about 1430 calories daily. I just want to know what to expect...and whether JC may be right for me. Otherwise, I'd be willing to try a more expensive home delivery option...mostly I need to succeed quickly to motivate myself so I can stick to it!!! So if you have any recommendations JC, Chef's Diet, Zone, anything---I am all ears!!!! Help a chunky girl get herself together!!!!

Hi! First of all, I would recommend you visit jennycraig.com and the message boards there. The boards there are a little more active than this thread. You can get ALOT of feedback there.
I am on my 4th week of JC and have lost 7.8 pounds so far. The first week I lost 6, the 2nd week .8, and the 3rd week 1 pound.
I'm currently on the 1500 calorie and day plan and exercise 60 minutes a day. JC has 1200, 1500, 1700, and 2300 calorie plans. At your consultation, your consultant will enter your information into the computer to determine your caloric needs. This number will be based on age, weight, acitivity level, etc.
I have actually been told to LOWER my exercise intensity since I have been losing kind of slow (.8 and 1 pound in two weeks). I wear a heart rate monitor and was burning 1000-1200 calories a day, which was too much for only eating 1500 a day. So, now I've lowered my intensity (not time) and hopefully my loses will speed up.
About the food...it's delicious! I have only tasted one dish that I absolutely could not eat. Everything else is wonderful, way better than Lean Cuisine and SmartOnes frozen meals.
Once you reach your halfway weight, you will start to wean of JC food and plan days on your own. I have not reached this point yet. I am going to the beach this weekend though and am all set to eat "reguar food" and stay on plan. The JC program is based on the American Dietic Association's Exchange Program.
I would highly recommend you check into the program with a free consultation. Let us know what you decide! There's plenty of support here and on the JC website! Good luck on your journey!
